Thanks Julie-Ann, I thought I was going crazy or had done something wrong which would be more to the point. Looks like I was not meant to see the painted kitchen then

Personally i wouldnt spend the money on a new kitchen if your intending to sell. Surely its a lot cheaper and easier to just update it, like they even did on domestic blitz the other night. New doors, handles, and bench top. It looked wicked.

How long till you sell?

a little update on the kitchen
we got the final measurements and consultation last night -
im excited because even though we do intend to sell our home in the near future, im stocked about getting a lovely new kitchen!! its great for me and for the house!!

no change in the layout but a little change on one side - im just getting an under bench stove fitted in so getting rid of my wall oven, and putting the pantry in its place instead...so a nice new double pantry!! yayy!!
he does think we should go for caeser stone benchtop and a glass splashback - dont mind the stone instead of laminate but i was really keen for subway tiles instead of splashback...
what do you all think?

The man has good taste but also expensive taste. Both the glass splashback and the stone top are a lot more expensive. Did he give you a quote? If you can only have one go for the stone top. With the subway tiles they tend to suit a more traditional kitchen- would that be the style you are after?

we're having the same quandry at the moment, HE likes glass, I want subway...was looking at travertine but 1. too expensive (big kitchen), 2..worried about the look being too 'meditteranean"

Well that's a coincidence Gabrielle What are you having on your benchtops? Is you kitchen traditional or more modern?

yes i agree Julie-Ann,
the cabinets will be shaker style in 'Antique white' so thats why i dont really think the glass splashback will suit....its way too modern for my liking!
i agree with the stone benchtop (40mm) as it has a nice finish and it will be better for resale as its so popular!
he said he is getting lots of kitchen updates removing laminate and replacing with stone....he is giving us a quote but im thinking another $1500-$2000 ontop of the original quote $9K
we'll see...
also our walls are Dulux HogWash so do you think white subway tiles with antique white cabinets would go? or should we go off white tiles too? also im stuck on the benchtop stone colour too....

Yes I personally would do tile over glass with the shaker style doors. This is my kitchen below. Our walls are Dulux Hogs Bristle half strength. The cabinets are Dulux Antique White USA and our tiles are white.
As for the benchtop colours what other colours are in the area of the kitchen and the rooms the kitchen connects to?
