Too many pendant lights?
Happy New Year to you all... Your opinion would be appreciated regarding my latest drama! I am having three pendant lights over the kitchen island and would like to have a pendant over the dining table and another one over the sitting area of an open plan kitchen/living room. The room is adequate in size although not huge, has high ceilings an ample natural light. I do not like down lights as have had them in previous two homes. I will be using down lights and task lighting in the kitchen but what something more glamourous in the rest of the room.I have not yet chosen any lights in particular although I can say they will not be industrial style. Thinking of French Prov. style lights over island with something a bit sparkly and keeping the metal the same for the others. Will it be too much to have five hanging fittings in one space (approx 8.5m x 5m)?
The lighting is doing my head in!

I had much the same dilemma. I think you will be fine with having the 5 pendant lights as long as they complement each other.
Also, what I opted to do was have one pendant as the predominant light - a chandelier - and the others just in glass so they all blend together.
Our combined lounge/dining/kitchen is 6.6m x 10.6m and I do have some threads about my lighting choices (finally) were:

Thanks Di. Your lights look lovely. I have much the same taste however husband leans towards the large 5 light drum shades that are currently around. I'm not sure if they will give enough light. If I go this way I will have to find pendants for the island that will not scream against the drum shades. I love decorating my homes (and I've had several) but for whatever reason I am finding this one to be a challenge. Must be getting old perhaps.LOL.

Hi Paris girl is your husband interested in these versions of the drum shades at all?
They might be a suitable compromise.

Julie-Ann,thank you. I've not seen the black shade before but the white one is in every retailer in both white and black. I think I will put the five bulb version in our bedroom. Love it in black but might be better of in white in the bedroom so can change the linen around more.Pardon the pun but can you shed any light on the manufacturer of the black fitting? Interested in the reply to "homesweethome" re hanging or not.

Sorry I just grabbed that from Google. It may not be for sale here. But I did find this silver one available in Australia.
And this white one from Cafe Lighting.
Are this of interest to you?

I have already seen this little one (white drum with crystals hanging off), this is the one Im considering for my Dd's room... although I liked your black one better JA (assuming that it would come in white). This light fitting isnt very big so not sure if it would suit Paris Girl for its size?? How big (wide) do you need the light to be Paris Girl ? The little drum from Beacon also comes in black and isnt that expensive either.
