Would you recommend we have a microwave compartment above the wall oven? It's not a fancy one or anything...

Wow - looks great - thats exactly the sort of layout I would like (I can't believe we finally have a proper Thisisme kitchen thread after all the mini-threads!!!).
With your overhead cupboards are you going to put handles on them? I have to say I'm not a huge fan of handles on overhead cupboards as with 6 doors it can look a bit busy (actually just re-looked at you sketch and it doesn't seem to be the case).
So will the middle set of over the oven just be pretend and disguise a rangehood?

Sorry i started my post and then went away to do some work and came back and finished it and saw Julie-Ann's comments. I agree about the less busy look of 4 rather than 2 - but what are you doing with rangehood etc?

Thank you clp

And yes, finally an official thread. I thought I better stop flooding the forum with my minor kitchen related questions

I won't be putting handles on the overhead cupboards.

The rangehood will be a slimline one, you are right, 4 overhead cupboards will not line up directly with the rangehood

Are you absolutely committed (ie desparately need the space) to overhead cupboards? In my ideal kitchen I would try to minimise overhead cupboards but then I like the look of a rangehood.

I really like your bulkhead across the top - if you were a stainless steel kinda girl I would consider stainless steel shelves either side of the rangehood (which obviously would no longer be slim-line). Mind you I personally probably wouldn't do that as I never clean and mine would get dusty and grimey - but I'm sure you are not like me in that regard!

That last post was rather a fanciful idea - but if you do have enough cupboards I would use the bulkhead above the bench to put your task lighting in and do some discreet but highish up rangehood (if they work properly - ?Julie-Ann would know the technical stuff).

I am a bit like you clp and hate cleaning which is why there is no way I would get a canopy/ exposed rangehood. So slimline is the only option in my books *shy*

Fair enough - but what to do about your overhead cupboards then?
