terracotta pots?
Tomorrow is my husband's brithday and our 6yo has bought him pizza stones (as they make pizza together once a week)..
I thought we should have a pizza dinner party to celebrate his birthday. It will be Make Your Own - so lots of bowls of everything you could ever want on a pizza.. and a tonne of bases.. (i got some great rustic ones) and everyone can do their own.
I will simply chop up the toppings.. all the usual veges, mozerella *****, olives, fetta, spinach leaves, semi dried tomatoes and so on.. plus a shredded BBQ chicken and some ham/prosciutto/pepperoni etc so no cooking!
I went to a catering supplier and got a large number of glass bowls (ala cooking show look) for $2 each and so everything will be in matching glass bowls on the bench. Just picked up some terracotta pot plates (the ones that catch the drips).. to line with napkins and serve the focaccia on. I have ordered a boston mudcake and will make fresh whipped cream and serve strawberries in small terracotta pots (bunnings $1.28)
The salads can simply go in a bowl (or most likely an open salad where people construct their own from veges on a platter).
There is no cooking (apart from the pizzas which the guests wait for and parti****te in. It isn't overly expensive and we can feed 14 - 18 with no fuss or effort on my part. The dishwasher can handle all the dishes and I will be curled up with cake and coffee in my hand enjoying the party too.
I will let you know if it pans out to be as easy as I am thinking. I will happily cook for 20 but usually make much more effort. This has been a breeze to put together and I think it will look good and be a lot of fun.
