Slipcovers
Has anyone used Slipcovers on their sofas before?
Not the fitted type that were made specifically for your sofa but the off the shelf type that should fit a 2 seater or 3 seater sofa. They look like such a great way to smarten up and tired sofa.
I used some calico ones about 10 years ago and they were hopeless. They never stayed tucked in around the edges of the seat cushions. Once you sat in them they looked a crumpled mess.
Have you or a friend had a better experience? Do you know which brand or store they were from? Or have you ended up with a crumpled mess too ?

Hi JA!
I have 2 slip covers on my 14 year old blue and white checked Freedom sofas. They were sooo '90's, but the condition of them was fabulous, so to dress them up I bought a 2 seater and 3 seater cover for them from Spotlight. They are the microsuede material and very durable. I just take them off and shake them out before throwing them in the machine and washing them. I also put them through the dryer!
They don't look like a crumpled mess, but they do require some gentle tucking in every few days to keep them looking good. It can be annoying at times to constantly adjust the covers (especially after the kids have climbed all over them!), but it has saved me bying 2 new couches when there was nothing wrong with the 14 year old ones we had. I've had them on now for about 7 years, and the covers look as good as they did the day I bought them.
Eventually, I'd like to replace the couches and move them upstairs for the kids, but there are more pressing things to spend money on! (Driveway, front fence, landscaping, study fit-out....etc...etc!)

If you just have to adjust them every few days that sounds great. Are they in a room where they get used much?

No probs! I'll do my best. I'm having major camera and PC issues at the moment, and I can't get my photos off my camera and onto the PC....they just don't like each other at the moment!

Lol the joys of technology. Do you have a teenager around who can fix it?

Hi JA,
I managed to find a pic of the slip covers on my couches.
They are 'mostly' neat, but after the kids have sat on them for a bit they do look a bit messy. It is easy to fix, but can be a little annoying at times!
...at least it looks better than the blue and white checks underneath! I would like to eventually get rid of them, but dining furniture comes before new couches!

They look really good Stormy . Thanks for showing us. It is a real pity we have to budget- most inconvenient to our decorating plans .
I love your white coffee table and side table- where did you get them from?

The two tables I bought through a friend online, but I have seen them at Adairs and also Country Living (in Rosebud and Sorrento in Melbourne). They definately weren't on our decorating budget, but were so worth the price! I love them!!
