Silk Interiors Wallpaper
This week I received a little surprise parcel in the mail. I love surprises at the best of times but this was extra special. You see our member Sandra from Silk Interiors sent me some samples of their wallpapers. I have admired their range online for months but this was nothing compared to the actual samples. You see the internet and photos can't show you the texture and quality of the wallpaper. It is not just the texture of the paper but the texture in the designs. And then there were the colours - stunning . You really have to see these wallpapers to see how fabulous they would look in your home.
The best part is Sandra is happy to send out free samples to any Decorating Forum members
If you are not familiar with Silk Interiors here is a little bit about them:
Silk Interiors specialises in creating stunning feature walls with wallpaper for homes and commercial businesses. We offer an extensive range of quality wallpaper designs to complement any interior.
Our wallpaper is available for purchase online or in person at our Point Cook (Melbourne) home showroom or through our consultation services. For those living in Melbourne or around Geelong, for $99.00 we can bring our entire range of wallpaper to you so you can view all of our gorgeous designs in the comfort of your home or place of business. We have more than 400 designs to choose from. We can help you match our designs to your decor, furniture and colour scheme. The $99.00 consultation fee is deducted from your invoice if you purchase a wallpaper installation package or more than two rolls of wallpaper. For no fee at all, come and visit us at our Point Cook home. We don't just sell our wallpaper, we also hang it in the Melbourne metropolitan and Geelong area.
Our rolls of wallpaper provide 16m2 of coverage, making them three times the size of standard English wallpaper. Our rolls of wallpaper are 1.06m wide and 15.5m long. Most feature walls will require only one of our rolls. Having such wide format wallpaper means fewer joins which results in a more seamless appearance. Our wallpaper is PVC coated for extra durability and sun-resistance. Priced between $352.00 - $396.00 per roll, our wallpaper represents great value.
Where we have wallpaper samples available, we are more than happy to post them out to you, free of charge to Decorating Forum members. See the samples we have available on our website and if you would like one, please email me: sandra@silkinteriors.com.au.
So which room should we wallpaper first ?

Yes I agree the Internet does not show the true nature of some wallcoverings. How can you tell if it is real grass cloth or just an image of printed grass cloth is the example I often use. We have a policy of supporting other wallpaper sellers and often send our Internet customers that we just cannot help to actual retailers with showrooms. We think that if customers have good experiences with wallpaper then they might comeback one day. Sandra seems to have some great service options like free samples for members and also gives us another option for customers when we cannot help.

Hi Lizzy, we don't recommend putting our wallpaper in the bathroom because of the heat and humidity. We get a lot of requests for it though so often it's a case of buyer beware. People will do it regardless. It may look great for a few months, even years, but I think the humidity eventually has to get to it. We won't hang wallpaper in a bathroom because we won't be able to guarantee the workmanship.
If you choose to go ahead and do it, make sure you use a really good primer - a good stain blocker as that will make the plaster impervious and prevent mould from growing underneath the wallpaper. It'll also make the wallpaper much easier to remove when you want to update again in the future (or remove the damaged wallpaper!) The sort of primer you use will depend on the surface of your wall - if it's already painted in a high gloss enamel type of paint, for best results you'll have to sand it back first and use an oil-based primer. Talk to someone at your local paint/hardware shop for the best product for your cir***stance.
Hope this helps!
Sandra

Hello decorheaven,
I think we share similar business philosophies. I shall have to get to know your range a little better because we often have requests for designs we don't have, like black and white stripes, or wallpaper with bamboo on it, or crocodile skin etc. I like to help people out as much as possible, even if it means sending them somewhere else, because you're right, spreading the love of wallpaper is good for all of us wallpaper retailers
We often get requests for custom wallpaper and we send them to Canvas This! who we met at trade shows where we've exhibited in the past. So I'll get to know your range a little better and send people your way when we can't help them.
Cheers!
Sandra

I saw some wallpaper done in a bathroom on "the block" so just wondered how it would handle the humidity etc. So thanks!!!

Sandra, Glad you agree with the philosophy! Black and white stripes is one of our common requests also. We have a number of options so feel free to send them our way and we will try to help. I'm sure you have the same situations as us, most customers have no idea on how to calculate the quantity required, understanding pattern matching and loads of small tips you can help them with.
