Default Silent blender?

Question for the appliance gurus out there: I will be moving into a place with a flatmate soon and would like to continue my morning smoothie ritual without having to worry about the noise in the wee hours of the morning before yoga. Have any of you ever heard of a “silent blender” or just a blender that claims to be more quiet than normal? I don’t want to be antisocial and I still want my smoothies!

I am not sure that it is possible.

If you are just doing fruit, you could try a stick blender. I have a braun, it gets a hammering and is lasting really well. It has variable speeds, so the lower speed, the lower the noise.

Only other thing you could do would be to make it the night before and leave it in the fridge. You would need to experiment with what still looks apetising the night before. If you add things like psyliumm husks, you would have to add them in the morning if you want a thin liquid.

I used to leave it overnight because i want more of a 'meal.' Been ages since I have had a liquid breakfast.

Mine makes a hell of a racket so no help here........Maybe try blending as far away from bed room as you can...

I would mix cakes in laundry when Mr6 was a baby........

Also putting a blanket over it cuts noise down. I have a suction machine to clear my Mr6's secretions and I shove it under the doona at night so as not to wake the other two men in our bed.......cut out 50% of noise..

I am picturing u now making smoothies under a doona.....

eeek - I would be concerned for the state of my doona! And I might not have a flatmate for very long if I did that - she might think I am crazy

I'll try the stick blender ... hadnt really considered it but it might work. I make green smoothies so blend spinach into them as well so it needs to do a decent job of food processing as well as blending but will try the stick tomorrow and see. Im skeptical about the night before thing but wont knock it til i try it. Thanks for the brainstorm!
