Default Recipe Book

Earlier this year my 'practice child' (so named because I was his nanny many moons ago and he has taught me well about parenting ).. moved out of home. He is turning 20 in July..is a vegetarian and is enjoying learning to cook interesting meals for himself and his friends.

I am so proud of him and super impressed by the man has become. I have been struggling to come up with a really good birthday present for him. (it was so much easier when he was 11 and we just started Harry Potter LOL) ..

It occurred to me today that a cookbook - curated by me.. might be nice. I could either print it into a proper book (somewhere like blurb)..or print pages and add them to a ring binder. I will see how it develops. Does anyone have any great vegetarian recipes that use realitively cheap and easily found ingredients. He is at uni and is in his final year of acting.. (he is gorgeous and brilliant and with any luck will be famous and fabulously wealthy.. in the mean time though.. he is talented and good looking .. hehe

I am thinking Donna Hay/Bill Granger etc.. really great flavours...but simple and easily achieved.

Any suggestions.. ?

I don't have any vegetarian recipes but just wanted to tell you I love the idea.
My only suggestions would be a vegetarian pizza and risotto.

Oh my, what a gorgeous, thoughtful present.

I don't have any recipes to add, but just wanted to say what a brilliant idea I think your gift is

Aww thank you.

The book is coming together nicely. I have a chalkboard and typewriter theme so it is fairly masculine.

I have just emailed his dad and asked for his fave recipes. I think it would be lovely to read through and find your family favourites in it too. hopefully he can send them back in time.

Lanne I was thinking of a vegetarian curry. Also soups if you think he could be bothered making them. Just don't forget to give him plenty of protein.
Does he eat fish?
