Default Reasonably priced Melbourne eateries

Okey dokey, so the big anniversary trip is just around the corner!

We are staying in South Melbourne, on St Kilda Road, and I need some recommendations from you girls on where we can go to eat, mostly for breakfast (I looooooove a good breakfast) and dinner.

We're not looking for seriously high-end establishments, just somewhere where we can enjoy nice meals in nice surroundings - do like a good view, though...

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

This place is not romantic but we are told the food is fantastic so we are going to go there when in Melbourne. It's called Burma House at 303 Bridge Road, Richmond.
I will ask DH for more - when he gets home in a few hours - from Melbourne by coincidence.

Also just googled "breakfast in Melbourne" and it came up with the Top 10 -- check this link http://thebreakfastblog.blogspot.com...reakfasts.html

On Southbank there is an Italian restaurant called La Camera that DH says is very good and not pricey.

La Camera Southgate
Shop MR2 Mid Level East End
Southgate, Southbank VIC 3006
(03) 9699 3600

I'm afraid all his other suggestions are pricey restaurants.

Thank you everybody!

I will def check out that blog.

Oh, and thank you, Spy, for your input!!! We would prob have to undercover anywhere that you went anyway

I should prob rephrase my requirements, pricey is not so much an issue, just not too fancy. Do they necessarily go hand in hand, do you think? I'm just too lazy to go to too much effort.

Ok for a slightly pricey restaurant the spy suggests 2 restaurants on the beach in St Kilda. One is Donovans and The Stoke House. Both bookings are essential. The Stoke House is more seafood. Both are casual in a beachy way.

For dinner there's a restaurant on St. Kilda rd itself Babarinos+Wongs. Nice ribs and pretty good menu too. Or you can venture to Carlton by tram? Great Italian food and some nice cafes to have breakfast at.

Both of these St Kilda restaurant are lovely. Personally, I prefer Donovans over the Stokehouse.

You are staying in St Kilda...no need to travel far and wide....there are a tonne of lovely eateries on both Fitzroy St and Acland St........ Acland St area is known for cakes and cafes......Fitzroy St lovely restaurants some pricy some not....You will have no poblem finding great eateries in St Kilda. Try this link
If you venture into city......there are some great cafes at Southbank, Federation square and at Crown Casino...as well as some laneways in the city where there are some very European laneways with paninis and expresso...I love Degraves St..

Southbank/Southgate: I like Blue Train but see this link as well as a map of the southgate precinct which is by the river and great to get views

Crown: Automatic, Grecos......Pub at Crown

Federation Square: See this link I like the cafe "Time Out" right in heart of city opposite Flinders St Station...

I would stay away from Docklands eateries they are pretty average I have found and Docklands is very cold so take a warm jacket if you head there..
