Will the duck egg blue work well with the blues in the painting of Broome?

You're probably right it won't, Julie-Ann.

This is the picture above our bed:

Wow what a fantastic picture. That will be a fantastic focal point in your room and I think it goes so well with the Marri furniture.
The soft blues might get lost against the bright blue of the sky in the picture.
One thought is to do the room in olives like the Pebble Quilt or coffees and browns. Either way you could use the orange from the picture as an accent colour. So have 2 orange cushions or lampshades or vases. Just sprinkle the orange in little bits around the room and at different heights but usually so that it is only 10-15% of the colour in the room.

Oooh wow that picture is beautiful and vibrant, sorry for not reading your post correctly, no the colours I suggested will definatley get lost there
Like Julie-Anne suggested a nice neutral base and some really great accents will bring the room together.
Have you thought about a feture wall instead of the colour on the bed........ you could paint the wall behind your bed instead, its a very personal thing though....people either love them or don't.
I have to say it again, I really love your bed.

I love that idea Elements.
Recently Mr16 & I redecorated his bedroom into a Chelsea football club. The teams colours are blue and white. All 4 walls were painted white with white curtains. I was trying to stay neutral as it had taken 5 coats of paint to paint over the dark green from the Jungle theme room that it was. He bought some framed pictures of 3 of the team's players. We hung them above the bed head. They looked good but not great. So I then took his Chelsea soccer shirt down to Bunnings to find a Chelsea blue colour. We painted the wall behind the bed head the Chelsea blue and the pictures now really pop. At least it is only 1 wall that will need 5 coats of paint next time.
What colour would you suggest for a feature wall with that picture on?

Julie-Anne, I think we need a photo of your DS's room. I love the sound of it with the blue.....maybe a pic in the boys bedroom thread....I am still to decide on this room for our new home so this will be a question for me soon also.

Ok Rachel, I am really sorry but this is very crude and rough but here is what I imagined....
Its called Dulux Beauty Spot, a very rich brown colour........sorry if we are off on a tangent and you haven't even responded yet.
We are just getting excited decorating your room for you

I'm sure Rachel doesn't mind our enthusiasm.
I love that colour for a feature wall.
I have snapped some pictures of Mr16's room in it's true disgusting state. But tomorrow when he is at school I will clean the room and take some of how it is supposed to look.

Thanks Ladies, that looks fantastic! You're all so talented. I'm afraid colour and style are not my areas of expertise (much to the disappointment of my grandmother who was a fashion buyer for david jones!).

Those colours look great! The thought of moving the bed to paint is giving me nightmares though. But perhaps we could get a quilt in that colour and accent with orange or blue cushions/throw etc?

A quilt in that colour would look stunning or you could just paint around the bedhead (no one will notice rofl)

...and here comes the curveball! For our fourth wedding anniversary we decided to get some photos printed. We ordered one to go over our bed (20inches square on canvas).

This is the pic. Excuse the bad quality, I scanned it from our proof album!

I would have preferred something more abstract... but husband decided he knows better!

This should give an idea of colour though. I'd love some suggestions!
