Default The Perfect Neutral Colour

Are you struggling to find the perfect neutral colour for your walls? Hopefully this article will be helpful. Last week I wrote about the Perfect White Colour as suggested by various designers and experts from the paint industry in Home Beautiful Colour edition. Well this is the same experts ideas of the Perfect Neutral Colour.

New Look Rumour - a milky pale taupe.
Taubmans Silkworm - a warm and pretty grey.
Dulux Ecru Half - a taupe that looks great against timber.
Dulux White Duck Half - a taupe that looks great against crisp white.
Dulux Self Destruct - a taupe with green undertones that suits traditional interiors and works well with deep earthy colours.
Dulux Hogs Bristle - a soft beige that creates a calm earthy feel.
Dulux Milton Moon - a mid-grey that works perfectly in between contrasting colours.
Murobond Dry Stone - a taupe colour that looks great with accent colours and textures.
Bauwerk Mud in 13/04 - a soft, icy latte colour.
Bauwerk Mud in 09/05 - a taupe with purple undertones. Works well with black and white.

I hope this gives you a good starting point.
Do you have a neutral colour you would add to the list?

I will add Dulux Hogs Bristle Half strength. It is lighter taupe than full strength and not as strong a green undertone.

Dulux Grand Piano (subtle taupe)... and Dulux warm neutral (not so subtle taupe are two of my favourites.

I love Warm Neutral Beverley - the perfect coffee colour. Although I took one drop of red out of it for our house as all this sunlight made it a little pink.

Default Warm Neutral

Ah thats the trick. i used it in my Maroochydore house and it looked fabulous and was a great contrast against the white plantation shutters. I tried to use it at this house but it looked really apricoty...this is a very light house and the sunlight streams in whereas the Maroochydore house was much darker. I actually thought my sample pot may have 'gone off' so bought another one but it was the same. Thats how I ended up using Grand piano here which doesn't throw any pink/apricot tones!

Our house is on the top of a hill and flooded with light too Beverley. So very similar scenario to your home. I am just about to add a feature wall of Warm Neutral to our bedroom. To me it really is the perfect milk coffee colour.
But I love Grand Piano too

I like Taubmans Torte. A dark enough Taupe to look brown, but not too dark. I don't have any issues (in our house, anyway) with it, but it is surrounded by shades of brown, so it behaves itself well!

Julie-Ann, as I mentioned in the Display Homes thread, I went to see the Riverstone home in Claremont today. The wall colour was Beige Royal, which I really liked and I'm just wondering how you would describe it compared to the other "neutrals" in the list above.

I wondered what colour that was - it is lovely.
Looking at Beige Royal against Hogs Bristle at night - the Hogs Bristle has a lot more yellow in it and the Beige Royal more green undertones. But I will have a look again in the morning.
