Default The noise of the neighbourhood

Sometimes I think it would be nicer to live on a farm. Ok - that's not really true as I am a city girl. But the noise of living in the suburbs can drive you crazy some days.
I love the sounds of the grandkids coming to visit next door. And I am used to the sound of machinery as we have had so much building going on around here. The yapping dog next door tests my patience. But today was just too much.
The council are putting in a footpath across the road. We have had all sorts of trucks for weeks but today they were full on. I had 3 big trucks parked on my verge, denting the lawn and probably breaking my sprinklers. But I closed the blinds and pretended they weren't there as there is nothing I can do about moving them. But just as I was trying some tricky 3D house design work - the music started. It was so loud I thought they must have been just outside my window. So I went out to politely ask them to turn it down. I found 6 council workers dancing in the middle of the street to the music. But even worse they were not outside my house but 3 doors down. I wouldn't want to have been in the house they were outside of. I hid my shock and disgust at their inconsiderate behaviour and asked the closest worker to turn the music off as I was trying to work from home. Give them credit they did turn it off but really a little bit of thought for the people in the homes nearby would have been nice.
Now I have had my rant- sorry
If the noise in your neighbourhood drives you crazy rant away

We can help with irrigation repairs Julie-Ann if need be

Hope your day improves too. Must have been a funny sight all the same to see council wokers dancing in the street, that would be a first?

Lol I will call you if I need any sprinklers.
I was actually quite shocked but I guess if I wasn't so mad it would have been funny on video. My day is great now that I have perfect silence again.

I can understand how mad you were Julie-Ann, also can see the funny side of it though especially with the council workers dancing and they were not even outside your home. )

You know jaz_ben that sounds like a wonderful idea. It might very cold down the south west of WA but also very pretty. And then there are those wineries to visit, the chocolate factory, the cheese factory.....
How about next weekend???

Default I calle my noisy neighbour 'Horatio Hornblower'

Oh Julie-Ann

I know what you mean about noises in the neighbourhood. We only bought this house last Oct and thought because the street is full of the 'Older Folk' we would be the ones being in trouble for noisy kids etc. How wrong was i.

My Neighbour down the street, who is a School Teacher by the way comes up to my next door Neighbour most nights for a beer, which is fine, good on them for that i say. But instead of walking up 3 doors he whistles a special whistle which alerts the other Neighbours around the place, even a Man that lives in the next block will come down when hears this whistle. OMG it drives me crazy.
The Whistling will then usually go on for maybe up to an hour.

But about 4 months ago he got one of those Vuvuzela things and he uses that now instead, and let me tell you i much prefer the whistling now. Some nights he will be going home from next door at 10pm and he starts blowing the Vuvuzela, well there has been many a night that he is lucky he was not wearing it if you know what i mean. I have kids and it wakes them up and Mummy is not happy when children are awake at 10pm and cant get back to sleep.

I must admit, touch wood, he has not done it for a few weeks now, so i am hoping that one of the other Neighbours complained about it and he finally got the message. He may have been watching the World Cup and realizes that those things are so annoying.

WHISTLING! no. sorry. Amusing the first few times but no more... and if you woke my child... you would def hear it from me. I would be sending a letter to them... anon. .. if i didnt feel the need to take on a drunk at 10pm. (but i guess that would depend on my mood).

It IS the neighbours and not the house IMO.. We had one house where our garage and loungeroom walls made up part of the fence (very close quarters!) but never heard a thing because of the design.

The next house was in a much nicer neighbourhood.. houses close but not ON each other and we heard everything. both sides. all the time.

This house is new, we were the first to live in it and it was the third in the street. 23 homes have gone in around us. Dancing tradies beat ones who throw rubbish. Noisy tradies have been punished with blasting kiddy tunes on repeat.. for many hours LOL. Point taken apparently.. because they didnt do it again.
