new slow cooker
I saw an ad on tv last night for a new breville slow cooker.. it can be cooked on the stove top to brown and then placed inside the slow cooker. As opposed to browning in one pan and cooking in the slow cooker... which i always thought was a bit stooopid.

That is brilliant and yet such an obvious idea. Thanks for letting us know

Have had one here for about three months Lanne - awesome. No more double dishes!
Highly recommend it to everyone! Is used three or four times a week here!

Do many slow cooker recipes need to be put on the stove first? Should I buy this new breville one or stick with the normal ones?

Most slow cookers themselves can't be placed on the hotplate. You need to brown the meet separately in a frying pan. Which is a pain as you have 2 pans to wash

I must admit that usually when the recipe says to brown the meat first I don't bother. I just throw it all in the crockpot and switch on!

grr, I brown nearly all the time. What a brilliant idea! My slow cooker is only a year old so don't think I can justify an upgrade to one of these whizz-bang ones just yet. Shame.

My slow cooker makes watery odd tasting food despite everone's best tried and true recipes... I think I need a small one than I have as you are apparently supposed to go up a certain height etc...
Cause I am home I can slow cook on stove or oven but what I really want is a pressure cooker now that would cut out heaps of cooking time..

Would love to have a slow cooker - there's nothing like coming home on a cold winters day,to a delicious smelling house. Can anyone recommend a brand or model?
