Default my shower area - door or no door

Hi,
I'm renovating my bathroom and we will be having a decent sized shower area.

I sketched a outline of what the area is, and wanted your opinions on whether we should have a glass sliding door or not?

Having lived without a shower screen for 3 week s... I would always have a door... and concealed shower on all 4 sides (walls or glass)...

Hi lux welcome to the Decorating Forum - great to meet you.
I actually once tested how far the water will spray when washing your hair in order to work out how long a piece of glass you need to create a walk-in shower. According to my scientific testing it will spray 1350mm. So I always make sure the fixed glass for a walk-in shower is 1350 long.
With your fixed glass being 1200mm it is touch and go. If you don't put a glass door then you may get a little water spray outside the opening of the shower but not much. My main concern is you have only allowed 500mm for the opening. I would allow 750mm instead. That is the size of an average shower door and a comfortable opening to walk through. So then your fixed glass would only be 950mm. With that size fixed glass I would put a glass door on.
Have you a plan of the whole bathroom?

If you can get away with it I'd definitely go for a walk-in shower. They look better and just feel better

I think they can work, if you have a ceiling mounted rain style shower head particularly. I don't know that this suits everyone as women sometimes find it annoying when not washing hair.
I would heed J-A's advice about what width opening to have.

We designed ours with an open shower, mainly as i dislike cleaning glass in the showers, no matter what quality they are they are still hard to clean. We thought about the roof shower fitting but also considered the not washing your hair option, so opted for the wall shower head, but fairly high and the head actually shivells so i dont have to get my hair wet .

One of the coolest showers I've seen was actually completely open with no glass in the corner of the room, but slanted so the water trickled back into the drain in the corner. I think it'd be pretty hard to pull off though without it ending up looking like a public shower.

I would also give strong consideration to underfloor heating if you have an open shower - just helps to dry the bathroom out.
