Movies
If you're anything like me, whenever I'm watching a movie, my attention is diverted by beautiful rooms, houses, buildings or landscaping. So much so, that I don't really enjoy going to the movies any more because I can't re-wind or pause. I most enjoy being by myself, watching a dvd on the big screen tv, where I can re-wind and pause to my heart's content. Some of my favourite homes in movies are: Father of the Bride; Steel Magnolias; Home Alone 1 & 2; Young At Heart; The Money Pit. Can anyone recommend any movies that have really beautiful houses in them?

oh I love the house in Father of the Bride. I love American homes, their kitchens, high skirts and colours they have on their walls. I should be able to give you heaps of movies but at the moment can't think of one!! I love watching movies, that's my way to relax. I'll reply when my memory returns

Hey, TTD, I'm with you: when it comes to building houses, the Americans have real style. The architectural detailing, both inside and out, give their homes such character & beauty. I styled my own house on American colonial, adding little touches of my own personal homage to Australian style as well. Such as: (I know a lot of you live in the west), but do you know the Paddington style of terrace houses in Sydney, built with creamy, sandstock brick that has splotches of black, shiny, coal-like substance in them, and decorated with beautiful white colonial iron lace? Well, I incorporated those elements into my home. I also love gables & dormer windows, but this type of window doesn't let in much light, so I had my own version of dormer windows built.
Anyway, I digress, thanks TTD for your recommendations, some of those I've seen and totally agree with, others I have now the delight of watching.

Your facade looks lovely RFC I have followed a blog for the past 1.5 years of a lady who built a house in Brisbane, New England (?) style. It's just lovely and she has a great room with built in book case/cupboards/window seat. Divine.
The movie Something's Gotta Give is one of my favourite homes -

Thanks again TTD! I just had a quick look at that site and can't wait to get back to it. I also have the picture of 'Le Chateau' at Dural on my slideshow. Love it! It was used in the series 'Packed to the Rafters'. I copied the pic from a real estate ad.
