Default mirrors for bathroom

I'm hoping you lovely ladies can help me here. actually what am I saying - I know you can! No pressure

I purchased some 600x900mm mirrors from Target for my bathroom that I've been in love with since I seen them and could just imagine them over my wall hung dble vanity. Anyhow, I finally got the carpenter around yesterday to see about hanging them. He said it could be done but since they are quite heavy and we didnt put any extra studs behind the wall they'd have to be hung on a wallmate hook but the wallmate hooks do stick out a bit hence the mirrors will sit out from the wall and naturally angle down to have the bottom edge against the wall. This isnt the look i wanted . Also because of the fact that they have a velvet type fabric on the back he's quite concerned about the moisture in the bathroom over time wearing the velvet off. I know what he means but I just didnt want to hear it.

So now I'm back to the drawing board with the mirrors and am hoping that someone could point me in the direction to what to do now. I've just rung a glazier to see how much they would be but from experience I know its not going to be cheap. I also definatly want the bevelled edge too. Why cant anything go right for me as late?

I just rang the blind people ordered my blinds off of 3 weeks ago and who said they'd be installed within 2-3 weeks, only to be told that they havnt even arrived yet and the people who make them are on holidays and he has no idea when they return. Arrgghhh

how about if you had a small splash back above the vanity that the mirrors sit on so that it partly supports them and glue them to the wall maybe?

or tile the entire wall except where the mirrors are going so they have an insert to go into and glue?

mind you, not sure if you will ever get them down if you glue them up?

I can't offer advice but I'm dreading putting my replacement mirrored cabinet up.

I bought one of those for the boys' bathroom but it just does not look right. Great mirror though.

I had my mirror put up with wall mates and it is a bevelled mirror and it sits flat because the mirror had a little hole in each corner for the hooks/screws to go into. Does you mirror not have these?

Prolem all solved now. Ended up taking one of the mirrors back and kept the other one - it'll soon be hanging above my bed.

I ended up getting 2 1200x750mm mirrors with a 30mm bevelled edge [smaller than I wanted but we have to compromise sometimes] from a wholesale bathroom shop. Each mirror only cost me $50 so I was extremely impressed.

We were advised to use dble sided tape and mirror adhesive glue to put them up.

Initially they were going right on the outer edge of the 1800mm vanity so there would be a gap of 300mm between them however when we went to install the first one which would've butted right up against the architrave on the window we discovered that the window was not square! ARRGGHH. There was about a 2.5cm difference between the bottom of the architrave to the top. Hence we were there with a fully glued up mirror ready to press it on and we discovered this, it is now in about 5cm. Not the look I'm after but not too bad.

mummachicka, it is when you are doing the finishing things like mirrors, blinds, etc, you come to realise how unsquare some things are. Some of our blinds are hanging in such a way that they show a discrepancy with the architraves but it won't be obvious once time goes by.
