Default Mirror or no mirror on buit ins?

What are your thoughts on mirrors on wardrobe/built-ins in kids'/guest bedrooms? Yay or nay?

Now, I am by no means superstitious but apparently Feng Shui experts warn against placing mirrors in the bedroom. Some of the reasons being:
  • Some people believe that when you sleep, your spirit and energy leaves your body. As your energy or spirit returns, it may get confused and enter the mirror rather than your body.
  • People claim that if you wake up in the middle of the night and spot yourself in the mirror, you may get startled and have a hard time falling asleep again.

Would love to hear your thoughts

Totally agreed with Feng Shui experts. Not a very good idea to have mirrors of any kind in a bedroom.

I could never live in a room without the built in mirror! All my built ins are going to be mirrors. They make the room look larger and like I said, I love having a mssive mirror in the room - never thought of the feng shui aspect though.

I'm thinking of having my linen cupbaord in sliding mirror doors also (it is 3.3m long), but not sure about that yet....and I want a mirror splashback in the kitchen...I love mirrors that much lol.

How big are the built ins thisisme? My one at my parents house was 4 x 1.2m sliding doors and it was all mirror and looked great.

Our walk in robe won't have doors on it, but the other bedrooms will have ~3m long and 2.4m high robes (with bulkheads on top).

It's personal preference I think. Have you lived in a room with mirrored builtins before? Did you like it?

Yes and yes
Although, only as a teenager and adult.

However, my teenage situation was a lot different to what my future kids' will be. (With only one bathroom for a family of 5 (2 teenage girls) having mirrors in our rooms was essential )

I'm keen to hear from those who have kids as to how they think it might (if at all) affect the kids

Well I had my room with the mirror built in from 5 years old and I loved it. I hate sleeping over my husbands parents house as his room has no mirror built in. My house I lived in growing up has 5 bathrooms so I guess my room didn't 'need' a mirror but I couldnt/can't live without it now.

All my houses bar the last two had massive big built ins with mirrors....miss them so much. When DS was a tiny tot he would get finger prints on the mirrors but Enjo to the rescue....no problem for me.
