I love only problem is, (not sure if its a problem) if I'm working with the tv on i won't be able to see the tv, if i build the desk into the cabinetry. its going to be a multi use space, office 3 days a week, chill out zone for me the rest of the time. I do love the idea! food for thought lol

And what about some of these options from Oz Design for a sofa?

This is a bit different but could look amazing I think:

Oh, and just a thought. If you want a really big desk, why not buy a small dining table and then buy a separate pedastal unit or shelving system for storage. That's what I'm doing in my office - it gives you more space, and lots more style options to choose from.
I love the Dakota

Good idea about the small dining room table, i could even do some sort of trestle table (stylish trestle table) lol

I deffinetly think a white desk would look nice with the white display unit and timber floors.

I like plain desks because you can then add your only personal touches like maybe some shelves or storgae boxes on the wall above the desk with a nice vase and some books, and photos of your kids, etc, without it looking over done.

I also love the crossed legs.

I actually really like that, very simple and is long enough to sit nicely in front of the window. I need to see if its deep enough. Cannot beat the price either

I don't think it will be deep enough, it needs to be deep enough to get my 27" iMac without falling off. bugger

If you like something simple like that, I'd probably just bite the bullet and make something (or have it made).

I've seen some great homemade desks using timber sawhorses painted white, with a modern flat top, hollow core door for the desk top. Since Ikea sells desk and table legs this would have to be pretty easy - all you need to do is paint the door.

Those style of doors from Bunnings are under a $100 so it's budget friendly too

This is the arrangement we have in our shared craft space (me scrapbooking and him model boat building). It works really really well. We have a recess along one wall which had built ins, which we took out. So it fit in their perfectly.

Hubby installed it - bench top from Ikea (kitchens) and he made the frame work for it. I love it,so clean and simple. And we have Expedit cabinets along the other wall. All in white. I think the whole thing (including install materials and shelving) cost us about $300. The bench top came in a 2.4m length, we needed 2.27m, si he cut it down).

But I hear you about the TV .... mind you I find these days I am listening to music more and more, less distracting!
