The only things I have purchased for the room at this stage are a candlestick holder, chandelier and a mirror, in the pictures below. I was thinking maybe yellow or purple for the accent colour. Im looking for a modern look with a bit of a french elegant look to it too. Below are some pictures of rooms I like. I also like the idea of picture shelves above the lounge (what do you think of that?).

Add lots of gold color, it will brighten it up. you didn't say what room it is and what the other colors are in the room.
