Unhappy Little black bugs

We have these tiny little black flying bugs around the house. They are in my bathroom but not the other one and in the family/meals area. Just 1 or 2 a day so not swarms. We go around clapping our hands trying to kill them. But they are slippery little critters so you can be sitting quietly and the someone claps loudly 3 times.
I think they might be in the plants in the family/meals area. And I thought they may come up the shower drain in my bathroom. But then why not in the other bathroom. They love to annoy me when I am putting on my makeup. One day I can see them causing me to accidentally end up with mascara all over my face.
Any ideas on how to get rid of them? Or even what they are?

Lol maybe they are a Perth bug. I'm glad I am not the only one with them. I was almost too embarrassed to tell you that I have little bugs flying around my house.
Do you have real pot plants in your house Elements? Which rooms are they more prevalent in?

We get them sometimes aswell mainly thru summer - we still have alot of building and farms not too far from us so maybe its something they are digging up or living in the long grass.

thru the summer we use the Mortein Indoor Automatic Sprayer thingy and it works really well. Kids are in and out letting the flys in and the automatic spray knocks them down fast maybe it would work for your little pests.

Think about how many fairies you've saved!

They do sound a lot like fruit fly though

That's so funny. I had forgotten that saying about the fairies.
Yes they do sound like fruit fly now you all mention that. I will have to set fruit fly traps inside the house but I'm not sure how that is going to look with my decor

Were they fruit flies Julie-Ann? They sound a bit like what we used to call midges or midgies. They were tiny and black and didn't really do anything but were annoying all the same.

I wish my pest problem was little black bugs. For those that don't know, we found termites (white ants) in our garage. Luckily they're just eaten MDF shelving (we have built in cupboards running the length of our garage) and there doesn't appear to ne any structural damage or damage to my precious floorboards. We are having them baited out at a cost of over $2000 (not covered on insurance either). Apparently we are very lucky. So it sounds like the termites have just eaten a chunk out of my new kitchen budget and the baby has taken care of the rest

I'm not actually sure what they are. But yes they don't bite they just swoop around your face and are annoying. I might have to google it.
