Default Light fitting for Teenager's Bedroom

Mr 14 just told me he wants a new light fitting in what is now his room - it was ours and has this light which I will clean and put in the spare/guest bedroom (it has a year's worth of dust and stuff all over it):

He's just chosen to replace it with this, or something similar if I can find cheaper:

Although I am thinking a metal shade might be wise and not get broken:

Thanks, everyone. I prefer the 2nd one, too but when I showed him a metal one he said it looked like it belonged in the garage, LOL.

He's a fussy sod. He is so over the renovating that he is refusing to sleep in his own room until it is all finished. He is over the inconvenience of it all. "Join the club", is what I think to myself.

Could you just tell a little white lie and tell him you are unable to get the one he likes so have gone for the other one?

I had similar trouble with my Mr12 with a quilt cover. He has a dble bed with a very thick mattress hence I wanted to get a queen doona to cover the sides etc. However he had his little heart set on a certain guitar QC that only came in a dble. I relented and bought the dble doona & dble quilt cover. I cant stand it!

I've just said, enough is enough and have gone out and bought a new queen size doona and queen size cover. Very masculine too in reds/blacks/charcoals. He hasnt seen it yet, I'll be washing it all up and just popping it on his bed when he's out one day. He'll just have to live with it.

mummachicka, we are so on the same page.

I'm going to say I think it is too feminine/girly and show him the other. Since it is white inside, he might like it better.

Both sons have wanted Holden and Ford doona covers and that has been an outright "No" but a Ford towel snuck in there as a bed covering of sorts. I just went and bought their doona covers - they had no say at all.

Mr12 did get to choose his paint colour for the feature wall - not one I like or would have picked but it his room and can be painted over in future.
