Default Lid up or down

Do you prefer to have the lid of the loo up or down or you don't care? I thought we could chat about this serious issue in life.
I actually have a thing where if someone leaves the lid up it annoys me- just one of my issues. Next house I am going to buy one of those toilets where you just tap the lid to close it. The only problem is the person does still need to tap it.
So up or down?

Oh yes I loathe the lid being up!!

The lid MUST be down when the toilet is flushed as there so many germs that get sprayed into the air each time you press that button!!

Going by Feng Shui - rules. A toilet lid must always be down. One reason being so the house's wealth does not get "flushed away'. Our toilet lids are always down.

I tell Mr17's friends that it is bad luck to leave the lid up as all their luck will go down the drain. Surprisingly they believe me.

This is the main reason that our toilet lids must ALWAYS be down! Not that we have one currently, but especially when a toilet is in the ensuite right near a basin with toothbrushes etc nearby. Thankfully our ensuite toilet is now locked away behind its own door.

I am thinking of getting soft close lid toilets for our new house. The only problem is that currently, the lid is always up (we only have one toilet and it is separate to the bathroom). I might have to implement a new rule of having the toilet lid down in order to justify spending a lot of money on soft close lid toilets (need 4 of them ouch!)

Most definitely DOWN!!!

We have 3 toilets all in their own little rooms, but I still have a thing about the lids being up...I can't stand it! Thankfully, Hubby thinks the same way and I have brought my children up to keep it closed too.

The thought of flushing a toilet with the lid open and toothbrushes nearby just sends me right over the edge!! LOL! One of the main reasons we chose our house design was the toilets were not near vanities, but behind closed doors!

Lightbulb loo lids

I live in a house with 3 boys (1 hubby and 2 teens) (like i said 3 boys) anyway, i have the ensuite and always hav the lid down and door closed. however they are generally lazy and leave the lid up and door wide open.

I bought a door closer like some people have on a screen door and bingo, the lid stays up, but i dont have to see it all...

Clever thinking Belinda.
Actually I have no problem with my men in the household- they have been trained well. It's only visitors. I thought I was the only one with issues- good to know I'm not totally losing the plot.
I heard that about the germs spreading if you flush with the lid up from a Doctor on the radio. He said the actual percentage of germs released (sorry I can't remember what the figure was) but it was an alarmingly high amount.
