Default Laundry features that make you go "WOW"

So the pull out ironing board was a huge hit last night on The Block.

What laundry features make you think "WOW"?

For me they would have to be:
  • Two pack cabinetry
  • Great quality mixer
  • Stone benchtops
  • Undermount sink
  • Tiling floor to ceiling
  • Mirror splashback

Storage, storage and storage.
I like the ceramic bowl style sink the best.
Personality - I like to see ornaments or wall art or something that adds character to the room.
Lots of light in the room - it makes it easier to see the stains.

Pots size deep drawers for dirty washing. Due to our layout we could not fit any in

Storage was the most important thing for me & most people think mine is WOW as it is a bit over 2.2m wide & over 2.8 high + 1.2m linen cupboard in the hall. There is a fold out ironing board but unfortunately the cupboards aren't deep enough to take my washing baskets or hoover

I have a waterfall corian bench top which will look so much better when I have it altered to cover the window reveal! The sink is ceramic which I love & the tap is supposed to be great quality but it was faulty & fell over

I hate tiling so don't have any, will eventually get a pressed tin panel beside the sink.

I think my 'covered' floor drains, polished concrete & long aluminium handles are pretty WOW.

I wanted a window splash back with cupboards above, that would really have made it WOW for me.

In regards to the pull out ironing board can someone please tell me who would do these? My laundry is an almost blank canvas at the moment and I am planning on having a broom cupboard and then mainly bench space with cupboards underneath [think - sml kitchen] however after seeing the ironing board on the block I think i'll have that and a laundry hamper underneath. Is that still the job of a cabinet maker or are their specialist 'laundry people'?

I'm not fussy .... Just enough room to have a few piles of washing on the floor, an ironing board up and room for the vacuum cleaner. Oh and a decent sized linen cupboard, with a door on it!

Beyond that the rest are nice to haves! New homes these days have the pokiest laundries, almost like they were an after thought.

Got all of the above and more, so I am one happy domestic goddess!

I have gone from a dark laundry with zero storage to a laundry with only space for a front loader washer (and I have a top loader, so it had to sit in the middle of the room!) to a small (but functional laundry).

In our new build, I am soooo looking forward to my laundry with lots and lots of storage and bench space. I am actually not sure what I am going to put in all those drawers. There will be zero excuses for anything ugly to be on view.

Have a look at this thread for a couple of options http://www.decoratingforum.com.au/sh...ning-3559.html.

A cabinet maker should be able to make what you specify, mine was made at the same time as the kitchen cabinets. I also have a broom cupboard which is divided into 3/4 - 1/4, the narrower bit is for my 'real' ironing board, I did it this way so brooms & stuff didn't make it difficult to get to & unless you hardly ever iron a larger board is still needed

The thing that I like the most is plenty of cabinets. I put my detergents as well as all my cleaning supplies in the cabinets. The other thing I like is plenty of light from a window. It's also nice to be able to open the window on nice days.

Lots of storage, concealed laundry baskets, rail for hanging shirts etc. Whilst I think the pull out board is neat, I iron a lot so would hate to be stuck in the laundry ironing. I do mine in front of the TV!
