How frustrating for you Darkbyte.
That is interesting Clp because I grew up near Toodyay and it was always so dry. Goes to show you how much the weather has changed. Maybe I need to visit Mr18 before Easter to enjoy your dry heat.
I'm over this humidity Sooty. My hair looks terrible.

Actually check out EnlightenCanberra.com.au - this is a great festival where the cultural institutions are open at night - I like the idea of the Antarctic concert at the National Archives or the Renaissance feast (bit exxy) at the National Gallery or the Political Comedians at Old Parliament House (Museum of Australian Democracy) oh and I really want to see the Handwritten exhibition at the National Library.

That does look really great Clp. Certainly not reflecting the boring city people say Canberra is. I won't go this early as I don't want to smother Mr18. But I will show him this website. Hopefully he can see some of these events with new friends. Thanks for the info.

Darkbyte if you put a fan outside the doorway it will cool down your room.
Before we got split systems and fans in the bedrooms we would put a pedestal fan in the corridor and it would blow a cool breeze into the bedroom. We had the split system in the living area and it would cool the corridor only and not the rooms.

Thankyou, I will try that. My OH hates the buffeting noise from fans, if its in the next room it may be ok. Ill borrow one from mum.

I brought him a dyson a few christmases ago, to be honest, they arent worth the money! They are quite noisy when you have the fan up high - they are a like a giant hairdryer.

After a few nights you get used to the noise. We kept it on low.

There is a house 2 down from me & I can hear their aircon at night with windows closed, I've never got used to this at night and it takes me a while to tune it out

Has anyone tried these http://www.sheridan.com.au/ultracool...protector.html or the mattress protector, do they make any difference? Sheridan used to have 'cool' sheets but I can't find them now so wondering if it was all a bit of a gimmick.
