Default Humid Weather

How humid is it when it starts to be uncomfortable? I know you eastern states people will be a lot more knowledgeable on this subject. If the forecast is for 36 degress and 62% humidity - is that going to be a sticky day or just plain hot?

Not to mention evap cooling making your house all wet......

Julie-Ann you want to try living over here. The heat and humidity at times is horrible. What gets me though even to this day the correct temperature is never given. ( We don't want to scare tourists do we )

We are spoilt here in Perth as we have more dry days than humid. But every year that seems to be altering. Now I have my lovely reverse cycle air conditioning I can put up with it. Well until I step outside.
How strange they don't get the temperature correct Lorraine.

Julie-Ann I've been living here for 33 years now, and the reason the correct temperature is not given is due to the tourists who come here, if it is 40 odd degrees everyday no one would come here for holidays, and they also don't want to scare pickers ( for grapes) away. I was also told last year that someone asked the local Fishers Supermarket which is in Deakin Avenue ( our main street ), if they could calibrate their temperature gauge so the temp was not as high as what was on it. THIS gauge can clearly be seen when you are driving down Deakin Avenue.

Given how hot it has been lately, i thought id share one of my secrets for sleeping through the hot weather. Ice bricks. Wrap them in a tea towel and cuddle them like a teddy bear.

What a great idea Darkbyte. Do you have a/c in your place?

I think the clue is to look at overnight minimums - that tells me how comfortable a climate is. We're lucky in Canberra we have very low humidity - mind you there are thunderstorms due this afternoon and it has been a wet (for us) Summer.
My mum finds WA way more humid than Adelaide (she spends part of the year in Toodyay and the rest in Adelaide)

We do, but its not a fantastic setup. There is a split system mounted on the lounge wall facing into the bedroom, it basically has to cool the entire apartment to cool the bedroom. The breeze from the aircon (comming in the open bedroom door) stops just short of the foot of the bed
