Question Housewarming foodie ideas

Hey everyone,

I still need to share pics of the new house (c'mon internet connection!), but in the meantime, I'm starting to put together ideas for food for a housewarming. I have about 40 guests to invite and my best friend has already decided she is cooking up a storm in her (my) kitchen! She asked me to come up with a theme so we can brainstorm ideas for yummy food. I know it definitely won't be chips and dip type of thing.

So any ideas on some kind of theme for a housewarming? She's already suggested having a "garden fresh" theme and have the bowls of food in the garden bed... I asked her what do we do about the bugs!!! I need to reign her in a little and give both of us something specific to work towards.

Btw, the housewarming is not for another 2 months so we have plenty of time to test recipes

If you can't think of a theme, but have a great recipe idea for something that we can whip up for 40 people - more tapas/finger food type stuff - let me know!

Cheers,
AJ.

Asparagus wrapped in prosciutto.
Bread sticks wrapped in smoked salmon.
Split shell muscles, sprinkled with parsley, garlic, salt and olive oil - baked for 5-8 minutes.
Potato salad

Vietnamese spring rolls were very popular at a New Year Party I had - they taste lovely and fresh with the coriander etc in them.
