Hi from the UK & Oz!
Hi Everyone
My name is Angela and I am a newbie !
Am loving this Forum, its full of really amazing photos, advice & ideas.
I hve just moved from the UK to the Central Coast (Terrigal) with my family (husband and 3 year old little boy Sam). We have just moved into a "new" place for the next 12 months, although we have kept our house in the UK (will post photos at some point - its a very interesting old country house).
Am currently looking to furnish our new house, so will be asking for some advice at some point. Once I have a clue what I am doing I hope to help others too.
So a big hello to you all

Welcome to the Decorating Forum Mrs Sweetcheeks . It's great to meet you.
My goodness you have taken on a big adventure moving to the other side of the world. Do you have friends or family here? When I was in my 20's my DH was transferred to Belgium so I am familiar with all the highs and lows of moving to another country. At least we speak English (well our version lol ) which makes it easier.
We would love to see photos of both your homes and chat with you about your new home and life here in Oz

Hi Julie-Ann
Aww thank you for such a warm welcome
Yes, luckily we have a couple of great friends here, but sadly no family, but my lovely Dad is coming over for a 3 week holiday in September which I am so excited about. Did you have anyone out here when you came? How exciting at 20 to travel to the other side of the world! I do love Australia though, I love the people, they are so friendly and straight forward, am looking forward to Summer now though!
As we are renting we can't really do an awful lot to the walls or floors, but I can add some brightness with soft furnishings, etc, so am looking forward to getting some help on what to do as its looking rather bare at the moment!
Our container came last week with some of our furniture from our old house and its not perfect in terms of suiting the spaces (I would love a Hampton style home!) but I will have to make the best of it for now.
Looking forward to spending hours trailing through the threads

Hi there fellow Pom
Its such a small world isn't it, we lived in Chester, like an hour away from Manchester!
It really is terrible what's going on in London atm and it appears to be spreading through the major cities, its disgraceful.
Anyhow, I love country houses too, but yes its the weather that lets the UK down, so unpredictable and it the hot weather never seems to stay very long and the Winter's seem to feel like they are getting longer and longer!
Will try and post some pics when my 3 year old goes to bed - bless!

we actually lived in cheshire , we did go back when I was about 5 yrs old for 3 years, so I do have some vague recollections of it, I remember my nanna taking me to the stockport markets to buy a coat, I remember a hilly road I think it was with stalls along it

We have several members here who are renting and do an amazing job of turning their rentals into homes . I love the Hamptons style too so if you want to run any ideas by me I would love to chat about them.
I am glad that you have some friends here. It makes it so much easier. The interesting thing about moving to a country where English is not the 1st language is the English speaking people group together. So there was a British and also American women's clubs. They made the move so much easier and lots of fun . I would do it again in a heartbeat. It is even easier now with the internet and skype . Just remind me I said that when my son wants to move overseas

Great to meet you Mrs SC... I admire your courage and spirit of adventure. I often read the blog a beach cottage:

Sarah also moved from UK to Australia might be worth a look if you haven't already found it...

I really need to take some photos of the house and upload them, but have been in ved since Tuesday with flu/cold (1st time in years!) so will try at the weekend as I really want to start buying things and don't want to go off in the wrong direction as I really have no idea at the moment1
I have found the Aussies to be so friendly and welcoming, each week we seem to meet more friends who are kind enough to invite us to things, this weekend we're off to Hunter Valley to look at a farm some friends have recently rennovated so I am really looking forward to that (flu permitting!) will try and get some photos.
I know exactly what you mean Julie-Ann, I couldn't bear the thought of my son living on the other side of the world!
