Talking Here we go again - Light choices for bathroom

I've not yet chosen light fittings for our bathroom because we or make that I have a dilemma that is making it difficult for me to decide.

We have 2 batten lights in place at the moment - one is near the bath and the other is near the shower - in fact it is just below and a little outside the corner of the shower screen meaning there is not a lot of clearance meaning that I am going to have to choose something flush mounted.

These pics are awful but hopefully they show what I mean:

Do you think it would be odd to have a pendant/chandelier near the bath (for aesthetics but an oyster-type light for adjacent to the shower?

I'm thinking something simple like this:

Thank you, TIM. I am in love with my bathroom. I feel like I am in a hotel bathroom each time I am in there.

Now, do you think it will look odd with 2 different lights? I figure since the pendant closest to the window will be the first one see upon entering the room, it would be fine. I guess I should go with my first instinct which is 2 different light fittings.

Oh, and that would work out cheaper, too.

Back to the painting.

Hi Di, I love the 2nd light and think it would look gorgeous over your bath.
Have you considered just having a downlight for the 2nd light so all attention is on your pendant? Love your bathroom.

I totally agree that two different lights is not a problem at all. We're going to have an IXL (I loved these and don't care how they look), but will have a pendant over the bath.

I like Abigail's idea, as a downlight would be totally u***trusive. Is there a reason that you'd prefer an oyster fitting over a d/l?

A down-light was a fleeting thought but I hate how energy efficient *not* they are + we have a lot of them downstairs so I am not a fan of them and we have already had several of them fail even though they have had little use.

But, down-light it is. Thank you everyone.

Now to have a word to me dad about install. I think he thought he was finished when he was here the other day.

P.S. I'll try and get an energy efficient one since I have a credit with a lighting store I returned a light fitting to.

You could always get an LED globe for your downlight

I'll find out about those, thanks TIM. We rarely use the down-lights downstairs - they're really for when we need certain parts of the room lit up. If I can get LED globes for them, they'd be great. I'm all for cheaper power bills.

You need the LED transformers as well, can't put LED globes into normal downlights, which is a huge bummer.

Thank you, Eli. I'll have to buy the whole component and will ask about that.
