Were you looking at putting a chandelier above the bath at all?
I hadn't thought of putting in a chandelier but now you mention it.....
Maybe something small, don't want overkill with the wall, f/s bath and my gorgeous spout! Do you think it could become too much?

As they are all centered in the one space - I don't think so. You would just have to go simpler on either the tiles or the chandelier and not too busy on both.
The thing with the chandelier is it has to be a certain height above the bath. But I am not sure what the height needs to be. You would want to check this with your electrician or architect.
P.S. If you find out let us know. I would guess 1800mm but it is only a guess.

I'd go with a niche in the wall above your bath... and maybe evey a skylight too <3

I do love the niche in the wall behind bath. I was originally planning on having one but then went off it cos I thought I might spoil the look of the wall of "WOW tiles". Be too busy? Do you think it overkill if I have f/s bath in front of pretty wall with niche and a f/s spout at one end and maybe even chandelier above and a small table next to bath for bits and piece (but this could live against the wall when not in use).
No need for a skylight as have large windows.....thinking of putting shutters on these?

Default Feature tile???

http://www.decoratingforum.com.au/at...0&d=1327666102

Hi, I am back. I have been reading the forum every chance I get. what a busy term. Thank goodness for holidays to catch up with everything.
The house is coming alone nicely....frames up and roof going on after Easter. I do need your help again. I have picked tiles for the ensuite. The builders suggested I do this now so they can build the wall behind the bath to the exact width to fit the tiles, so no cuts in the feature tiles (my suggestion and they are willing). So I have ran off today and picked out some tiles and took them to the sight and one of the builders said he hated them and they will date quickly So would love to hear what others think?

The floor tiles are dark grey 300 x 600, the shower area will be white 250 x 500 and the feature wall behind a white freestanding bath is also 250 x 500 and black patterned very similar to this

Hope that worked! Do you like or hate? I have found it hard to find a feature tile. I've looked at hundreds of pics and visited every tile shop within an hours drive.
Any help much appreciated

Will all due respect, ignore your builder. If they are what you like and have an inspiration photo to go by, I say go for it.

While I tried to go the route of choosing things that would not "date", things will date. I think they're subtle enough and black and white never goes out of fashion.

Hi Jakira lovely to see you again.
I love the black tiles with the wallpaper look to them. But I agree they are likely to date quickly. They have been around for a few years already. If you weren't planning on staying in this house for very long I would say go for it. But I gather that is not the case. What about some Mosaic tiles as a feature? Or the white wall tiles with a mosiac border for the feature?
Also with the sizes you have chosen for the wall and floor tiles the grout lines on the walls and the floors won't match up. This bothers some people and not others. But I just wanted you to be sure it is okay with you.

Thanks ladies for the quick reply. I normally wouldn't listen to the builder on decorating stuff BUT I am so scared about choosing things like tiles, colors, kitchens.......etc etc
We do plan on staying in this house for a long time.....until retirement to our beach house....but that's another project One house at a time

My thinking is the black will make the bath and chrome spout a feature and maybe a nice light over the bath. The white in the shower behind would help it stand out too. I love the big grey floor tile but they may come in the smaller size???? I will put them in the laundry too I think.

I'm not a fan of the tile & think it will date quickly but a lot of people probably wouldn't like what I have in my bathroom either.

Even though I'm not a fan I can see why it appeals & if you are going to live there a long time then go for it Even an all white bathroom could look a bit dated in years to come so don't worry.

Jakira if you want the wall tile grout lines to match the floor tiles - how about a white tile that is 300 x 600?
I think your colour scheme is stunning.
Sooty is right - if you are going to stay ages and you don't think you will get bored with the feature tile go for it. Almost anything will eventually date if you wait long enough.
