Default Hello from Perth :)

Hi Everyone!

Its great to have found this site!

My DH and I have held onto a block for five years, and finally have started to build on it. We have a 860sqm block, and we have utilized every space.

Last week the pool went in! and hopefully next week the slab will go down as all the prelays are complete. My DH and I are doing this as owner/builders and I must admit to so far enjoying the process.

We are trying to find away to mix contemporary with antiques and its been quite a challenge for me lol.

Looking forward in getting to know everyone much better

Hello Wyldwitch (interesting name) welcome to the forum. It's lovely to meet a fellow Perthite. Congratulations on starting to build your home. This is a great time to build in Perth as there are plenty of tradesmen looking for work at the moment.
Merging contemporary and traditional can be tricky but looks stunning when it is done. Have you taken our Decorating Quiz? It might help you make some decisions when selecting items for your home.
We would love to hear all about your new home. You may like to show us your plans and tell us all about your new home on our Your Build/Renovation forum.
Look forward to chatting with you

Hi Julie-Ann and hello Rosie

Thank you for the warm welcomes!

Wyldwitch stems from when I was younger lol A nickname my Dad gave me and stuck!

I did do the quiz and came out Hollywood Couture - so very fitting I think with my love of mixing contemp and antiques

Unfortunately I am a very visual person (hairdresser here) and am always tracking down visual displays of everything which drives my DH bonkers!

DH is a commercial builder by trade, so am lucky that we are able to draw on his experience.

I will most definitely start up a thread - thankyou both ladies for suggesting this! Will start by uploading the plans once I have figured out how to cut the pics down in size.

Again thankyou for your welcomes

Hi Wyldwitch. Lol the name makes me wonder what kind of teenager you were.
You certainly are at an advantage with your DH being in building and your ability to visualise. The best way to put the plans up I find is to use a website called picnik. You can upload your plans, change the sizes and crop the plans into sections so they are easier to read on screen. If you have any problems you are welcome to email the plans to me at jah@dbj.com.au and I will be happy to help.

I dont think I should mention my teenage years - I have two girls now, one turning 12 the other 10 and am absolutely dreading thinking about what they might get up to, as I did

As soon as I can work out how to convert a pdf to a jpeg without losing too much information I WILL start that thread

Welcome wyldwitch

I can't wait to read more about your build.

Mr thisisme and I are owner builders too and held onto a block for a while (8.5 years) before building on it...

Can't wait to hear more from you

If you are on windows you can open the photo in paint or powerpoint and then save it again as jpeg. On a Mac you open it in Preview and do the same. Hope this helps Wyldwitch
