I got my Christmas present early too! It is the best kind!
Meet Sally, the newest member of our family

She is a cross…part Saluki (desert bred dog…and part something else!)
I knew volunteering at the dog refuge was going to be dangerous!
Sally is five months old and was abandoned with her litter to die in the oven hot temperatures of summer in July this year. Fortunately someone found them and was kind enough to take them to the dog refuge.
I met Sally three weeks ago as she was cowering in her cage shaking and so very frightened.
She is such a soft natured dog and while most cope well with the noise and activity of the refuge, Sally clearly wasn't. She was terrified. When I entered her cage she cowered in a corner.
I visited her every week and spent time talking to her and stroking her. I took her to the adoption room for some peace and quiet…it is very noisy in the refuge as dogs bark and set each other off whenever someone walks by their runs, which is often. She relaxed a bit in the room but would not come to me or give me eye contact…at five months she should be a bouncing happy puppy!
I took her home. Luckily our nine year old border collie isn't too fussed and tends to ignore her. My husband came home from a trip and I said "Merry Christmas" He thinks she is great.
