Default Fold Out Ironing Board

Did you see this on The Block? It's a nifty idea that I have installed many times. So I thought I would tell you more about them.
The most common one used is by Hettich. The iron sits behind a standard drawer in your kitchen, laundry, or even a WIR. It is a little bit tricky to get the hang of pulling it in and out. But once you have been shown a few times it is really easy. You basically pull the drawer out until the ironing board rises, then you tilt the drawer front down and fold out the ironing board. To close it is the reverse.
It is a small ironing board. And I have found it is great for doing 1 or 2 pieces - like the school shirts as you are about to rush out the door. But I don't suggest you do your week's worth of ironing on it. I did this a few times and the moisture build up has rusted underneath a bit.
But they are well worth installing in your home. And it is a cool party trick

Hettich says:

Ironing board
Can be installed instead of a drawer in base units.
It pulls out on a telescopic slide and swings up automatically to working height in front of the carcase.
The ironing surface is heat-proof.

Minimum internal cabinet dimensions:
Width: 360 - 468 mm
Depth: 505 mm
Height: 100 mm

Do you like them?

I have this pull out one by Hafele http://www.hafele.com/us/products/9632.asp.

I like it better as the draw front doesn't pull out with the board & the board swivels. Mine is in a cupboard so didn't add the draw front as I've always thought clothes would get caught up on the draw.

An easy access ironing board for a quick iron they are a great idea especially if you aren't into the wash & wear look

I love the sound of that! Would you happen to have a photo of your setup?

I think it was so funny on "The Block" when everyone checked out the laundry with this in it. Katrina was sooooo jealous and Polly was funny when she said "Check mate."

I think it really impressed the judges and gave them extra points.

I think it is one of those items that some people really love, but I am a bit ho-hum to be honest - it just doesn't really appeal to me for some reason.

The one that Sooty posted is a much better idea. I've used the same one as J-A at my in-laws unit and the drawer front does get in the way.

I don't like them as I like to place my ironing board wherever I take a fancy that day. I would leave it all to my cleaner if I was confined to the laundry to do the ironing

I would never use one of these to do all my ironing, they are too small for that. Unless you only iron once in a blue moon, they are for convenience instead of getting out the normal board, though I'm sure some people will use just this.

Mine is installed quite high (intentionally) so do think about that. Even though it is in a cupboard, because it swivels it can be used right or left handed.
