Default Floor Lamps

Can you put a floor lamp next to a side table? If so, how do you style the side table? I've been trying to find some photos for inspiration but haven't been successful. Hubby knocked the table lamp and broke it so I'm on a search for a new lamp.

I have this arrangement and it works fine - I keep the side table clear or have books/magazines on it. I'm not big on decorating side tables as they're for coffee cups etc.

Thanks CLP. I'm worried that another table lamp will get knocked over, hubby is a bit careless and it was only a matter of time.

I'm liking the look of this one from beacon

Here are some pictures that might help Nqmummy.
Personally I would either have the lamp at the opposite end of the sofa to the side table. Or I would go for a lamp that leans over the side table so it is more related to the table - if that makes sense.

Thanks J-A. I went out and bought that Beacon floor lamp today...no procrastinating for me I'm happy with the way it looks, the corner it's in was empty anyway so it works. I now have a side table that I need to make look pretty. Any inspiration pics would be helpful....

Nqmummy you decorate a side table similar to how you decorate a coffee table. Did you see this article about that last week?
I like to do 3 groupings of different heights. Instead of my lamp you may have a tall ornament or a vase of flowers. Then add either candles, books, photos, ornaments. I love to stack a photo frame or ornament on a stack of books fro extra layers.
What do you have on the side table now?

All I had on it was the table lamp so it's a fresh start. My side table has two open shelves underneath which has my Real Living magazines stored. I've just moved the "Domino Book of Decorating" on top and I've also ordered the "Decorate" book which I'll also stack on it. I might buy a vase for a little bit of height and maybe some sort of ornament to sit on top of the books and then I'll just need to find some other small item. This should still leave me some room for my coffee cup. Thanks for the tips J-A.

Give it a while with nothing on it - you may like it. I think side tables unadorned can look pretty good - in fact I think they look better with things on them if do they have a lamp.
