Default Is flavored water allowed?

Hey..
I was just wondering if it's ok to use water flavoring packets in my water? I love water, but sometimes I get tired of just plain water :P

Hi Anastazia good question. How many kilojoules, sugars, and salt does it say each packet contains?

I have a lovely recipe for flavoured water. Trying to remember it off the top of my head, but I think it's something like this.

Put a jug of water in your fridge, add cu***ber slices, some grated fresh ginger, slices of one lemon, add about 12 mint leaves. Leave to soak in water overnight, then drink it all the following day. It's Soooooooo refreshing!

Xtend is a supplement produced by Scivation.

It is typically used by body builders and other sports because it contains ingredients(branch chained amino acids, glutamine, B6, etc) that help the body recover from exercise induced stress e.g. DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness/stiffness) and increases stamina.

I used to use it when I was playing/training ice/inline hockey three nights a week and working out for the other 3 (one day rest per week).

They have changed the recipe lately so that it now contains elecrolytes. Even though I used to mix it with electrolytes to combat dehydration, I prefered the option to be able to keep the two seperate - I dont need to replace electrolytes after a weights session at the gym.

The original recipe did not contain sugar, I am pretty sure that the new would not either.

I would not recommend it as a general drink unless you are a serious body builder (i.e. working out most nights of the week) - to be honest, with the new recipe, Im not even sure that would still be the case.

It does have value when performing high intensisty exercise, but the majority of people would not need it. Its a bit like drinking a gatorade after a 15min run, for the most part a bottle of water is all you really need and maybe some no sugar electrolyte powder/tablets (e.g shotz) if you are cramping/have more patches of wet clothing than dry.
