Default Finishing DIY Projects

Do you have a problem with getting your partner to finish off the DIY projects he has started around the house? I used to call my hubby the 95% man because he only finished 95% of a project.
Do you have any tips on how to motivate your partner to finish the project- apart from a good kick up the butt?

Praise, praise, praise. Just like you would a child for positive behaviour. When he does a job and actually finishes it, give him a huge big kiss, or hug and tell him what an awesome job he did and how happy you are with it. He'll get such a huge ego boost and hopefully want to keep doing things 100%.

Lol I love how one of you denies favours and the other bribes with them.

I tend to organise our weekends so there is an allocated time for doing chores. So I ask first does he have anything he wants to do for the weekend, I plan some fun going out time, then I plan for errands that need to be done. Then that usually gives an afternoon free for finishing projects. And I tend to dictate what projects need to be done. It works for us and over the decades DH has changed from the 95% man to the 100% man.
Although sometimes I do have to nudge and remind him we need to stay home and finish these chores. That's what I call a gentle kick up the butt

I have found that the only way I can get Mr 70% to finish off projects is to put the house on the market, has worked three times so far....

Oh that is very drastic Eli. Maybe you should be a little sneaky and say you would like to move- then when the house is all spruced up say you just can't bear the thought of leaving this gorgeous home.

Good luck Jaz_ben. You sure you don't want to try Rosie's motivation technique?
