Default Exterior House Colours

Hi,Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions of exterior paint colours that will go well with a Colourbond Woodland Grey Roof & Windows. We live in a rural area on 22 acres and we are renovating a guesthouse on the property. This roof is a very earthy colour but put with certain colours it can either look too green or too grey. We have a new shed on the property with same colour on roof and roller doors and we used the colour Jasper on the walls. It looks great on the shed but is a bit dark for the house. Please post any photos if you have any of houses with Woodland Grey or make any colour suggestions.
Thanks

Hi Cindyh sorry we haven't answered you sooner. Welcome though to the Decorating Forum.
Dulux Limed White or Dune
Or my favourite is Dulux Desert Floor 200% strength.

Do you like any of these or should we keep looking?

Thank you for suggestions. I am not so keen on Dune as it looks a little too grey. I have tried to find a picture of Desert Floor but it looked very pink, not sure if that was just the computer image. Will see if I can get a sample of this at Bunnings. What do you think of Paperbark Render with the Woodland Grey Roof. I was wondering how it would look at 200% as I think the warmer colours make the roof look better. Does anyone have any photos of houses with these colours? Thanks

Hi Cindy - Paperbark would look great with Woodland Grey. Yes the Desert Floor looks nothing like it does on the computer. At 200% strength it looks like limestone that is wet. It has a real earthy, cream tone to it. I have seen it with a black roof but I think it would look great with Woodland Grey too.
I did find this picture where you can see Woodland Grey with a cream lighter coloured render.

Paperbark is one of the colours that Colourbond has in its range of gutters, etc. so if you like that creamy colour that is the one.

Otherwise if you like the Jasper on the shed but think it's a bit dark, maybe do Jasper 50%? or have a look on the swatch, the one with three colours together, and if Jasper is the darker or middle colour, perhaps choose the lightest colour on that swatch.

Thanks for the pictures. I quite like the house with paperbark as the render but not sure if the roof is Woodland Grey. It is a little hard to tell. I got a swatch on the weekend of paperbark but thought it looked very yellow so was not sure if I liked it but the house in your picture looked really nice. The colour seems to look very different when you see it on a whole house also. I did get a sample pot of Beige Royal which I quite liked also. Any pictures this colour with a woodland grey roof?

CINDYH the paperbark picture is a display home that it says on their website the roof is Woodland Grey. Colours look so different on computers.
If you have narrowed down your choices I would suggest get a couple of pieces of A3 card from the newsagency. Paint 2 coats of your colours (use sample pots) on each card. Look at them outside in full sun and the shade. Also do 1 A3 card in the Woodland Grey too. That way you can compare the grey and other colours outside too.
When you pick a colour grab a large box. I got one from a local fridge store. Paint the box in your chosen colour at least 2 coats. Look at in sun and shade and preferably at the block you are building on. You should get a good idea from that of what it will look like.

Thanks Julie-Ann. Yes I have painted some samples on gyprock pieces so I can move around house to check the colours. I am just really confused at the moment with the colourscheme. I have seen a house with a woodland grey roof in our area and I love the colours they have used. I just have to get the courage to knock on their door and ask if they would mind telling me. I'm not sure how people take that - whether they are hesitant to tell you. I know we did a renovation a few years ago and I had many people stop and ask me the colour scheme and I happily told them. Just not sure if everyone would think that is ok.
