Default Dryer sheets

Does anyone use dryer sheets? Are they available in Australia? If so, where and how much are they?

They are the Fluffy brand in a light blue box. I haven't looked for them elsewhere so not sure if they are in other supermarkets.

Here's a pic of them ...

They're sheets of scented paper that you put into the dryer to add a freshness and reduce the static in tumbled dried items/clothes.

Below is a 'blurb' I found on the internet explaining their use:
Dryer sheets are gauze-like tissues about the size of a Kleenex, put into clothes dryers to eliminate static cling, soften clothes and add artificial fragrance. They are sold in small boxes or plastic "pull-up" dispenser bottles, generally found near the laundry detergent in any grocery store.

When clothes tumble inside a dryer, friction causes an exchange of electrons on the surface of the materials. Items acquiring excess electrons become negatively charged while those losing electrons become positively charged. The items attract and cling together. The electric charge, which by some estimates can be as much as 12,000 volts, is commonly referred to as static cling. Dryer sheets are coated with positively charged substances that rub off on the clothes in the dryer in the presence of heat. With the clothes positively charged, there is no static cling.

Other chemicals in dryer sheets help to soften clothes and make them wrinkle resistant. Finally, dryer sheets include fragrances that make your clothes smell fresh. Because of the anti-static, fragrance-rich properties of dryer sheets, many people claim they work well for other household purposes.

I use these and love love love them.....they do win in smell over the washing powder as they are quite strong but they are not strong enough to cover up washing that you accidently left in a little too long and get that musty wet smell....That still only comes out with another wash and a big sigh...

Party po o per Rosie here..................another hugely toxic ****tail found on dryer sheets..........

Apparently natural fibres and vinegar in rinse cycle is useful in avoiding static cling.... Line drying works a treat too...

If anyone intersted just google toxic dryer sheets to get the low down. http://www.care2.com/greenliving/din...er-sheets.html

Why do great things have a down side?

Dryer sheets are apparently not great RE toxins.. but they have SO many uses.

Excellent in shoes to help with smells.. and if you put old books into a plastic bag with one it takes away that musty smell.
