Are you thinking about how you are going to decorate the Christmas Dining table for Christmas Day? I have half our dining table set as I am experimenting with different ideas. I found this
article with 6 easy ways to turn your napkins into Christmas napkins with personality.
Rustic Chic - Left - I was inspired by our Rustic Woodland Christmas Dessert Table for this one. I found these gold pine cones at Michae’s for $2 and change and bought some red ribbon. I snipped two pieces of tree sprigs from branches on my tree in the back, hot glued the two pine cones together then glued the two tree sprigs together then the pine cones to the sprigs and placed it on the napkin. Easy. Simple. Rustic Chic
Rustic Country - Right - For that person that doesn’t want to deal with a glue gun or doesn’t have one, but still wants a country/rustic look, this one is for you. Simple natural textured ribbon was laid down first then a pine green colored ribbon layered on top of that and finished with twin tied into a bow.

French Country-Right - Toile is synonymous with French Country design, so it was a natural choice to use this left over fabric I had in my closet (this fabric was left over from the custom pillows and chair covers I had made for my daughters room). I simply laid down knitted lace first (found at Jo-Ann’s), then used my iron to fold and set the piece of toile fabric that is laid over the knitted lace accent. Easy, neat and makes an elegant statement.
Winter Wonderland - Left - By far one of my favorite color combination this season. Ice blue and red…hello gorgeous! A wide red ribbon was first laid down then an ice blue ribbon on top of that. I could only find this pretty blue (used in several rooms in my home) in the Martha Stewart Collection at Michael’s. All other blues were just not right. Then I laid a snowflake ornament on top of the two layered ribbons (you can find cheap ornaments like these snowflakes at the dollar store) and finally another thin linen textured ribbon was laid over everything (again blue ribbon from Martha Stewart). This is my favorite napkin and the design that will be used on my personal tablescape.

Vintage Shabby Chic - This one is so simple. I laid a small knitted doile down (you can get these at a craft store, got mine at Jo-Ann’s) then tied a knot in the middle of my fabric strip (when cutting fabric strip, make sure you cut them long enough to secure around the back of the napkin and to allow for the knot being made). That’s it. Very simple. Very Shabby Chic.
Traditional Elegance - I know this one will work for many homes this Christmas. I wrapped a sheer ribbon that was embellished with gold around the napkin. then layered a thinner red napkin on top of that. Next, I tied a red ribbon through the hole at the top of the gold star ornament into a bow and simply laid it on top of the layered ribbons. Simple elegance indeed.
CHIC ON A BUDGET TIPS:
1. Use what you have around the home. For accent fabrics, try looking around your house first to see if there is something tucked away in a closet that you could use. Then you won’t have to spend money. Also, as I mentioned earlier, you could snip some greenery off of your tree in the back to use as an accent. Play with it on the napkin and lay it however looks good to you.
2. Shop at a discount store like the Dollar Tree or The Dollar store for simple ornaments. They wont cost you alot and they will look just as pretty.
3. Look in the remnant (scrap) section of the fabric store, you can score pieces of fabric that were left over at the end of a roll of fabric for just a few buck. I do this all the time.
