combined bathroom and laundry
We are thinking of combining the laundry and bathroom. Having the laundry behind sliding doors as this will hide everything as well as giving more space in the bathroom. We would like a free standing bathtub so need a bit more space in the bathroom area. Has anyone done this that you could show a picture???

We don't have our laundry combined with the bathroom but we do have it behind bifold doors in what was the old toilet (toilet is now in bathroom). I'd take a photo but t's an absolute mess at the moment as we are ripping out the cupboard and floor for our new flooring to go in.
At the mo' it has wooden painted doors but I am getting vinyl wrap doors made to match the kitchen so it all ties in.
I love it ... !!

I had a combined laundry in a place I rented, and hated it.... lint everywhere, wet walls... didn't like it at all!

I used to live in apartment, for many years, with a laundry in the bathroom, hidden behind double bi-fold doors, sort of like this:
I had none of the problems Sarah described. I loved how it was hidden away behind the bathroom door and behind the bi-folds. Very discrete. We had a washing machine, dryer above and sink next to the washing machine.

That's very similar to our set up.
We have sink on left, front load washer in middle and tall cupboard on right.
The dryer is a semi-industrial and can't be hung on a wall so it's in the garage.
We don't have any problems with smells, lint, moisture either.

Maybe it is best to have a dryer that is a condenser dryer so you don't have problems with moisture and lint. We had a washing machine/dryer in a bathroom once and I had no problems.

We had one in the House on the Hill. It was three sliding doors in our hall, it had a great big bench, washing machine with dryer above, and linen press along with overhead and undersink cupboards. Some much space it was awesome. To overcome the condensation issue we installed an exhaust fan above the dryer, worked a treat.

We once had a 100+ year old house on an acre, with the old style outside laundry. It was quaint and cute and beautiful.
But so impractical that when we renovated the massive bathroom, we incorporated the laundry appliances into there. Loved it - invest in good ventilation an you shouldnt have damp issues.
Oh and the old laundry building became a gorgeous craft room!

Besides moisture which can be remedied with a good bathroom fan, you should also think about heat. I know my dryer can put off a lot of heat and if it was in a small bathroom, it would probably be pretty warm in there and uncomfortable when the dryer is running. I can understand how lent may be a problem because when I clean out the lent trap in the dryer, some lent and dust does fall on the floor. But that's going to happen wherever your dryer is, whether it's in the bathroom or a laundry room.

We live in an apartment. Unfortunately its too small to hide the washer and dryer behind bifolds. Moisture wise, never been a problem. A big part of this would be due to having a condensor dryer. They are marvellous. Perhaps having a front loading washing machine helps aswell.
The only other thing you may want to think about is where you are going to store your linnen/brooms if you dont have an allocated spot for them elsewhere.
Our broom closet is next to our vanity, I dont think it looks too bad.
