Default Christmas Meal - Vegetables or Salad

Do you have Vegetables or Salads with your roast dinner? It is normally stinking hot here in Perth on Christmas Day. So I have voted for salad and DH wants vegetables. There will be roast potatoes as I told that is not negotiable. But the rest of the meal is undecided.

So what vegetables or salad do you serve with your roast Christmas meal?

Will roast be serves cold or hot? If hot then I don't see a problem with veggies. I like steamed baby carrots and white beans.

I like baby and kipfler potatoes. Yum!

We have both veggies and salad with our roasts (not necessarily Christmas).

How I wish I could get away with salads....vegies all the way here to accompany our turkey, pork and lamb. Will probably also have steamed dutch carrots, brussel sprouts (for two of us only ) broccoli and cauliflower au gratin.

Dutch carrots are the little skinny ones in a bunch with their tops on. They are so tasty when steamed

The only snag with those dutch carrots is they are a pain to peel

If you peel them you won't have much left

I just clean them thoroughly with a toothbrush and trim any "hairs"

Yes definitely no peeling, which is how we should be eating all our veg anyway as all the goodness is directly under the skin. A good scrub with a nail brush does wonders.
