Default Christine from Perth

Hi,

Thank you Julie-ann for sorting out the registration!

I am hopefully building a new house this year (if I EVER get the old one packed up). This will be the first time ever that I am going to decorate and interior design for me - no 'gifts' or 'second hands' this time! No feeling guilty if I don't take that wall unit (that I never wanted)!

So I will be looking to learn how to do this

Christine

Hi Christine it is lovely to be chatting with you here.
Do you have to sell before you build? Any ideas on where and what you are going to build?
It will be so much fun to be able to start from scratch. Many of us here are experts at spending other people's money. So let us know if we can help with any of your selections or any advice.

Hi Julie-anne,

No - I am going for a Knock Down and Rebuild - I have a lovely large block - its just the asbestos just-post war house! I am going to build a cottage type house - just big enough for me and two dogs. The only person I need to argue and negotiate with is Mum - she has definate ideas on what should be built and how it should look. We've already had a 'sulk' day because I would not go buy this on special dining table. (The fact is, I already have one. I don't need two). We will both, I am sure, live thru this.

Oh yes, spending other people's money - definately the way to go. Yes, I thought it might be nice to run through possibilities with someone who is not my mum!

We mothers have been known to add our 2cents worth when it is not wanted. Will your Mum be living there too or just you and the dogs? Have you chosen your plan yet? We would love to see it. We are a little nosey around here.

That's the thing - Mum isn't going to be living with me! I probably should start a thread in the Building/Renovations section - I'm going to be building the Levin by Blueprint (probably one of the smallest houses in Perth, I think!)

I guess it's like when you have your first child - everyone tells you how you should do things. You listen to what they have to say, smile sweetly and then do what you want anyway. After all it's your baby or in this case your house.

That would be great if you could start a thread. If you can attach an image of the plan - even better. I can't imagine you need a big house for just you and the dogs. Less house to clean and rooms to clutter.

Hi Christine! I'm sure you'll get plenty of advice here on the forum, whether it's all welcome or not

I'm looking forward to seeing your home, a little cottage sounds lovely!
