Hi LDH decades ago they often didn't seal the timber floors but had an oiled finish on them. It was a much more matt look. It looked fine. I don't know how easy they were to upkeep. But I like the sating finish better myself.

Is this what they did on "the block"?

One of the images I think I have posted here previously from the "a view on design" blog had a house with the most amazing floors and they just didnt look very shiney:

See what I mean? It might just be the lighting but they look like a very flat finish but I think they look awesome!

Beautiful house.
I'm not sure about those floorboards - with what the finish is exactly. I will ask around.
Thisisme do you remember who on The Block did the floorboards you are referring to? Then we can try and find a photo and some details.

Presealed timber floors are cheaper at around $120m2. I have some gorgeous bamboo presealed floors.

Hi Julie-Anne ... am thrilled to be a new member (signed up today) and have already found so many amazing and inspiring suggstions/threads.

We are extending our famly room/kitchen area and are knocking down walls opening up to a large 9m x 6m area.

My brother is a cabinet maker and so am arranging a kitchen installation with him.

We are comtemplating bamboo flooring and after noticing you had installed these I would love to see some photos. We are also unsure of what colour to go with as our cupboars are going to be in a high gloss finish (vinyl wrap) and our benchtop will be in Diamond Gloss finish (Colour = Andalucian Marble). Any suggestions?

Hi 4sterftg welcome to the Decorating Forum. I hope you enjoy chatting with us here.
I personally don't have the bamboo floors. Although I would be very happy to put them in next time. KimG and Elements have installed them. I have seen them in a couple of homes and been very impressed. The girls shared their opinions about the bamboo floors on this thread.. You might find that useful.
With the kitchen - could you start a new thread in the kitchen forum? Tell us as much as you can about your choices so far, your style of home and any other colours that will be used in nearby rooms that open to the kitchen. We would love to help you spend your money
