Bowl/vase for our kitchen
I am thinking of getting this 28cm inexpensive vase to use as a bowl in our kitchen. What do you think?
I am thinking of keeping green apples in it (either real or fake, not sure yet)

I like it - but more importantly if you like it go for it.
Now you are mistress of your own domain I want you to take ownership of your decisions and stop deferring to us so much (even though we love providing our opinions of course) I'm being a bad old bossy boots but you pick great stuff TIM and often want to open all decisions up to a vote - (even if I know its sometimes to get some leverage against MrTIM) - we love you and we love your house and you did that yourself so go and get shopping and stop dilly-dallying (and don't forget to show us all you bought)
Oh and I'll get kicked off here now for being such a rude so-and-so but you know I mean it with all the best will in the world and hope you're not upset/offended TIM.

I truly think you only work out your design style by getting in there and getting dirty and making some mistakes along the way - its your home its not meant to look perfect like a magazine - you have great architectural bones so any stuff ups you make from here on in will be easily fixable.

clp, I think my main concern is that I am a cheap skate and hate wasting money. And decorating mistakes cost money. So that is why I like to get advice from as many people as possible because majority is always right. Especially when it comes to the decorating forum

Interesting discussion here but sometimes the majority isn't right Tim if they are opting for something I couldn't live with.

I know what you mean Cherylle. And I agree
A lot of the things I created polls about on this forum I decided to go against the majority, for various reasons.
But when it comes to decorating, not always, but most of the time (on this forum) I would trust the majority. Especially because I am terribly terrible when it comes to decorating. However, if someone recommended something which in my opinion was ridiculous, I would obviously not go ahead with their suggestion

That's a good sign that you are getting confident in your decisions. Good one.
Sometimes when making a decision, I just think to myself, if I get this one or if I get that one, it doesn't matter, because I like either of them. Saves the headache.

As an aside, I do enjoy reading these threads. Its nice to know that Im not the only person who becomes so torn between two options. Oh and I can pinch some of the answers because they will be exactly the same questions I will be asking/re-reading when it comes time to decorate our place.
Anyway, I think a colleciton of those vases full of different colour fake fruit would be nice... one of green apples, one of red, another with oranges or lemons.
I guess it depends where you are going to put it. If its on the island i think its a bit narrow, if its on the side, i think it would work really well

Coming from some, I think this would sound harsh, but I like it coming from you, clp. And I'm going to take on some of that advice for other areas of my own life.
Anyhoo, psychology moment aside, the vase looks great thisisme. If you like the look of the green apples (real or fake), perhaps green would be a good option for Powder Room towels...
