Block-out drapes - in front or behind sheers?

i have drapes and then sheers under I like them as I think blinds or other seem to make a room seem not homely.And heavy curtains are better for heating and cooling

That's true. Will hopefully save some $$$ by just having the blockout lining

I just realised that I can't have sheers in front of drapes... because I don't want a cord or chain to move the curtains... So I will need to go with blackout curtains in front of sheers so I can get to them easily... since I won't be opening the sheers... I am thinking of using those pull rods on the inside and manually pulling them to the side... Does anyone have these? What are your thoughts on them?

I'm confused TIM. You can have motorised curtains if the curtains are behind the sheers.
