I watched the Block last night and LOVE it

I have been a fan of the series since it started. I must admit it use to be a dream of mine to be a contestant but after having a taste of renovating an IP, that has cured all my ambitions about being on The Block

I think the contestants have a really hard time in this series. I remember the last series, it wasnt very pleasant as relatioships between the couples became very hostile. The producers made a very bad decision in the last series of those particular apartments as 2 of the 4 contestants made no money at all...the market had dropped.

Just curious, what would the first thing you would have done the next morning? Only the guys did it...they rang up a real estate agent to see what adds value in the area. I was surprised the other couples didnt do this. I would of made the first room into an office as well. I really dont think a family will buy these apartments...what does everybody else think? Would love to hear from posters who live in Sydney

I noticed that too MrsB. Knowing who your market is is a basic step. If I had a family needing 3 bedrooms I would think I would be looking for a house with some garden.
Does everyone think the tradespeople have an advantage? Any thoughts on who will present the best room next week?
Looking forward to seeing it next week.

Loved the first episode! What was with all the adverts though? Thought it was very funny when the two guys got a pie warmer for all their meals Too funny that all the other couples presumed the two Dads were an "item". Didn't think Chez could do much renovating with wearing heels Cannot wait for next weeks episode.

I watched it but couldn't get into it...maybe cause the little man was sick and I was bit preocc'd.

However I do beleive u have to be a DIY'er to do well or at least have advantage.
Are all the houses going to be freedom catalogues?

want to see more though.......

The first room will be judged on The Block tonight at 7.30pm. Who do you think will win?

I should know their names already but I think the young couple that don't have any trade experience, well thats what they kept saying anyway.
I am not sure if they can hear me yelling through my TV but I think they were listening so I am sure they have taken into account what I said and that should see them win the money.

Lol of course they heard you. I think the girl who got the wardrobe for a bargain. I like anybody who thinks outside the box

I LOVED Erin and Jake's winning room! Loved the wallpaper, loved the colour and the chandelier...all just beautiful! They sourced the bedsides from ebay, the mirror and the chair from the salvos and painted them. Fantastic!

Duncan and Mark's bed/study was a great idea, but I would have liked to have seen a 'double' desk, not just space for 1 chair. Shame about the 'lack of styling' but hopefully next week they'll add a few more personal touches to dress up their next room. Loved the idea of the bulkhead.

I quite liked the idea of Cheryl and Brenton's wallpaper sliding doors, but I can see them getting totally wrecked when renovating the rest of the house with tradies coming in and out! I thought the room lacked a bit of 'oomph', and I (personally) would have put the pictures on the wall in the middle of the wall and above the bed, not off to the side! I like a bit of symmetry!

Neisha and John's kids room was great! Nice bright colours and attention to detail with the little table, paper roll and pencils/textas.

But the clear winner for me was Erin and Jake, and I'm so glad they won!! Can't wait for the next episode!!

Watched it last night...very interesting Those boys have got to decorate their rooms and what was with their choice of ceilings? As soon as I saw that, I knew they wouldnt win. The area they are in is very upmarket so all apartments must be very well designed, clean lines and very contempoary. Buyers are paying 1mil+ for apartments and they demand a very high standard.

I was disappointed in the apartment that had the sliding doors...loved the wallpaper but on the doors...didnt work and the judges didnt like it either. I thought the kids room was nice and the room that won Ok. these contestants seem to be doing it really tuff compared to the last 2 series. Did anybody notice that the downstairs werent given a ridiculous unfair advantage this time in the form of a large garden the last 2 winning apartments both were the garden apartments that were always much more valuable.

Anyhoo...I loved it and are taping every episode and watching them again i still would love to be a contestant but not with the cameras around...after all, I look horrid in the morning LOL
