the kids would normally enter via the opening that will still be there near the stove, we normally enter the kitchen from the opening that will be closed.. with the kids walking through the kitchen doesn't bother me so much as it bothers me that they currently try and chase each other through and around the kitchen as it is now
2 things though, firstly I just went and measured the cupboards and it would still leave a gap of 450 in between them and the island bench already there unless we pull the island down to meet up with them, if we push the island bench away from the corner cupboards going in by 150 ml that will leave us a walk through of 600. Or leave the island bench where it is and attempt to butcher the corner cupboards going in so they stop where the end of that wall stops, that wall is about 650 deep and the corner cupboard is 1100 deep so would need to cut off 450, but as I liked the idea of it being a corner for kettle I didn't want it being a walk through there next to the kettle which it would become if I do chop, plus it needs to replace a pantry so I don't really want to lose more cupboard space

oh secondly I just looked and the back of my island bench doesn't line up with that wall, its about 200 ml inside the line of that wall... here's the thing, I really need to try not to move that island bench because it will be a mission having to recut holes for the sink if it gets moved , could I put in the corner cupboards against the wall and then leave the island bench inset a little bit? where it is? the overhang for breakfast bar that will go around the outside of it will be about 200-250 and will line up with that wall the corner cabinets are against

I think I understand what you are saying but can you draw it up? Even a rough drawing will help I think it will be ok if I am understanding correctly.

ok I musta been having a brain fart... after measuring the cabinet I remember another reason why it wasn't suitable, its 1350 along the back wall next to the fridge and won't fit unless I chop it that way.... by the time I've finished chopping up the counter I'll be left with splinters

Ok so back to plan A and a pantry. Getting a builder to gyprock that area shouldn't be too expensive if hubby doesn't want to do it. How deep is your pantry?

this was the plan, but the most I can fit next to the fridge is about 1100 maximum actually 1000 would be ideal

And what is the measurement of the walk through if it is 1000mm?
Can you cut the cabinets to do this? And is the island the same width as the corner width?

the walk through between the two benches? would still only be 450 unless I chop that side as well, not worth hacking the cupboard if we have to take off 350 from one side (the side next to the fridge) and 450 off the other side so it ends inside that wall, although only 150 would need to be cut to leave a walk through of 600 the cupboard sticking out past the wall would look odd I think..
oh and yes the island is the same width as those corner cabinets

its looking like back to the drawing board and plan a , I was thinking as the pantry is just a set of doors at the moment, that it would come to the end of those walls and be 650 deep
feeling a bit disappointed, was really keen on a corner for the kettle and toaster
