The idea of the desk is to use it as a console for clients to lean on when signing cheques etc.
What exactly do you see the console being used for?

Maree, you sound so like me with regard to selecting the right pieces so you can configure the room properly.

No doubt I'll be starting a similar thread to get advice on what sort of lounge/s I should buy for our open plan living/dining/kitchen. It is such a large area that needs defining.

Can't wait to see the outcome of all your planning.

Oh I remembered what the console/thingy thing was for- to put sample albums and etc on.

Di- I think I'm just driving myself more insane than I am already...I don't want to order stuff until I know it will work.

I have been thinking Maree that having a tall bookcase not attached to a wall is very dangerous. Especially for little ones. I was thinking maybe a smaller bookcase with a solid back. Then you can put the console on the other side of the bookcase to use for clients. Would that work for you? I realise it would mean keeping the toy area tidy. But I think if you are going to share the toy room with clients they will need to be kept tidy anyway.

Sometimes it is best to just stand back and take your time. Hopefully with some time you will see how the room will work best for your family.
