Question Bedroom Colour Scheme

Hi everyone,

This weekend I am going to the city (Adelaide) to go shopping for all my furniture and accessories for our house extension which is almost complete

The only problem is I can not decide on a colour scheme for my second bedroom. The cieling and door and window frames are white and the walls are 1/2 Intermezzo, which is a light creamy colour. I have to keep these colour walls as there are cream coloured built-in's in the bedrom which I have been told I am not allowed to change as they were only put in 2 years ago. The floor is pine floor boards.

I also have a pine timber bedroom setting (queen bed, bedside tables and tallboy), I have attached a photo of the exact setting. although I am happy to paint this if it is possible and if you think it will better suit the room.

Now I need help with colours for linen, cushions, throw rugs, floor rug, and wall art etc. PLEASE HELP?

Hi AmandaLouise what is the style you have through the rest of the house? And what colours have you used in the rest of the house?
You can definitely paint the bedroom furniture which would give it a fresh look.

I'd go with white, white, white and more white

Yes I was thinking white bed linen and maybe white curtians too but unsure about other colours that would go with white and cream?

J-A if you have a look back at my build thread there are photos of my existing lounge room and my 3rd bedroom.

In the third bedroom I have a black iron bed frame and white bedsides and white linen and have used aqua and navy as my accent colours. I had more options in this room through because the built-ins where white.

In our new extension im going to be using black, grey and white as the main colours, with pine floors throughout. In the study im going to add lime green as the accent colour and maybe purple in the master bedroom if it needs it (was going to just have black, white and grey but through it might look a bit dull), Not sure yet about accent colours in lounge room. Im getting a black leather lounge and there is a warm grey feature wall (solver wallaby). I am yet to purcahse lounge room furniture, dont know if I should go white or black?

Basically I need quite a lot of help. Especially with the second bedroom and lounge room!

White and cream are neutrals and really go with most colours. I like navy with these colours more than aqua. But I also like charcoal and the purple. Do you have any ornaments or art to use as a jumping off point for this room?
It's best to ask about the lounge in a separate thread so everyone sees it.

One easy thing I would do (easier than painting the furniture) is consider changing the handles on the drawers and bedsides to something else. So many good options out there to help push the furniture in your chosen direction.

J-A I dont have anything for this room yet so it is basically a blank canvas, other than the cream built-ins and the pine bedroom furniture. I was thinking about browns? but wasnt sure if this is outdated now? And if I used brown would it be too much brown with the floor boards, etc? also if I did decide to use brown what other colour could I use with it to brighten the room up a bit? Any picture inspirations would be great

Cherylle - Yeah I have considered keeping the furniture as it is because it is not very old but am unsure how to decorate the room to compliment the timber furniture?

You could break up the brown floorboards and brown furniture by placing a light coloured rug in between them? I will try and find some pics

You could do it all in cream and white to keep it fresh like the 1st picture.
Or just use brown as the accent colour like the 2nd picture. They have also used small amounts of blue in this room too.
Or if you want to use more of the brown then red makes a great accent colour like the 3rd picture.
If you want to use the brown a lot but no accent colour, use pattern and layers of different textures and interesting items in the colours like the 4th picture.

Do any of these appeal to you?
