Default Baby Shower

Hi all,
In Oct I am doing a baby shower for a dear family member......

We are have chosen an aqua and lime green colour scheme.

We are having tissue pom poms for decor(once I can perfect them) and a candy buffet.

As my publisher went with the old computer I am getting invites in PDF from ETSY........and then will print them

30 people................she wants classy not tacky................

It is a 2pm afternoon tea, some hot food, some petit fours, etc....

Wanted some catering, some diy,

Lots of ideas....need to pull it all together...

Do you need food suggestions???

One of the nicest touches (I thought) for my baby shower was that I bought each guest a gift to take away. It was a rubber ducky by BUD and packaged it up with some posh chocolates in a noodle box I got from Spotlight. I bought them on thebabyshowershop.com.au They went over extremely well and saved me having to send out thank yous afterwards.

Love the colour scheme! What city are you in? We had some gorgeous cupcakes made (Brisbane) with baby motifs on top.

Good luck with it all. Have fun!

Oh yes cupcakes add great colour...
Click the image to open in full size.
Get some wrapping paper in different papers and some boxes and wrap them to place around the party table...you don't have to put anything in them...
Click the image to open in full size.
the other option is to suggest to all your guests for all the gifts to be wrapped in white paper and green or aqua ribbon....
How about some blue hydrangeas on the table for colour also...

The rest of the food maybe simply be nice sandwiches with aqua and green napkins or paper plates....the classy ones

I know this will be a gorgeous party..

I thought of this blog straight away. they are sure to have something inspiring for you http://www.ontobaby.com/

This post has some great examples of food which would be easily achieved/catered for.. and a great use for the pom poms http://www.ontobaby.com/2011/06/bumble-bee-baby-shower/

This one has some great pompoms in wool if the tissue is too hard http://www.ontobaby.com/2011/07/gree...e-baby-shower/

Love the way they used them in a line. The food looks super easy and yet well presented.. the lil white vases are IKEA. not sure if they still do them tho?

often getting the height right on table settings is difficult. if i am not mistaken .. the white shelf thing in the middle of this pic.. is a shelf insert from ikea (really cheap and would work a treat) http://www.ontobaby.com/wp-content/u...y-shower-1.jpg These tables reeeeally need a backdrop and a super cheap and easy one is ribbon... buy spools cheaply at Spotlight or buy it by the metre.

This is alice in wonderland inspired and whilst the decor is hired in? i would assume and is way over the top.. there is plenty of evidence of packet opening when it comes to the food. http://www.ontobaby.com/2011/04/alic...d-baby-shower/

This one had some sweet details and use of pom poms (not my personal choice) but they did use the small white ikea frames well (hello. can i get a commission please ikea). LOL. http://www.ontobaby.com/2011/04/once...e-baby-shower/

If you want help with any artwork prep for printed materials.. let me know!

Oh I love that you gave gifts SS....at your shower. I am but a poor owner builder so perhaps my design and prep is gift enough. I thought that candy buffet with paper bags pinned on a line (aka clothes line) might be a gift as the guests could take home a bag of lollies each.... It is still $7-30 for one kg of lollies though.... I am in Vic....too btw.....

Elements: Look how you matched my colours to your pictures.....sweet girl......I am running with that wrapped box idea...........and blue hydrangeas I know just where I could cut some (are the in flower yet in Vic in Oct?)

Lanne that blog is a newbie to me............perfect for a Friday night read.....soo cute.

I am trying to pull all ideas together so it stays lovely and not OTT. I have a meeting with Ms 24 weeks soon to fine tune the plan.

So firstly attached invites like this in a lime green ok?

Then next we need to arrange Candy buffet? Do lollies need to be green and aqua?

Just a thought on the invites. Rather than ordering online.. it might be worth coming up with your own if you need other stationery items? for the candy bar labels etc.

Candy in aqua and lime will be hard to come by?

I would throw in some white...

but... You should be able to get:

Cupcake wrappers and then have the frosting coloured.

Lollipops - try lollipopbrides.com.au (and be sure and tell Emma I sent you) These would make fab take home gifts.

Wrapped chocolate bars (you can buy paper or print it).. and wrap chocolate bars (i buy chocolate that has a foil layer underneath so you can remove the branding wrapper and then rewrap. Takes no time at all and is super simple to do.

Chocolate dipped pretzels (you could colour the white chocolate with a gel colour) or have it as a 'white' treat.

You can custom order M&Ms in your choice of colours too. http://www.mymms.com/weddings/ They do not ship internationally but you could get them via one of the shop/shipping outlets like comgateway.com

You could also try somewhere like this http://candyaddictions.com.au/ there is sure to be one in Melbourne?? Not sure about this place http://www.designercandy.com.au/ quality looks lacking to me.

Mints are also a great inclusion.. and they are white

You could also look at sugar coated cookies..

Relabelled water bottles.

flowers and ribbons will also help push the colour theme.

A coloured tablecloth will also help.

http://www.pinkfrosting.com.au/ might also be able to help you out?

Lanne you are the best ever party planner. I really look to your advice in these matters and am so grateful for it...

I have to check out each and every link you have suggested. Am looking forward to it when boys in bed

I am happy to use these invites as Ms 23 weeks has chosen them but I am will make complimentary candy signs.... There are some lovely free printables but I have a lot of fonts to choose from...

And she wants the lime noodle boxes for take home candy so I got some nice ones for 50% off at spotlight today.

I found Ross's candy and nuts in Chifley Drive (Yes just near Albi) Preston today and he had the best bulk lollies ever. I got aqua candies (like blue barley sugar) for $2.95 for 500gm pack (bought 4 packs - 2kgs) and he let me go through box of sherbie lollies to pick out all the lime green ones. Then I got big bag of white milk bottles (appropriately themed) and then some mint leaves...

I have perfected the tissue balls and so just have to find the lime green and aqua and maybe some white tissue paper. I can buy it in bulk on line which may work out cheaper but still have a big spotlight to hit up because they have cheap 5 packs for 50c...... So 50c per tissue pom is better than $2... but for in a ream even cheaper...

Going to collect some nice glass vessels for candy and for the food do all white platters (easy to collect)..

I have a lovely retro punch bowl (blue) for punch and will have glass bottles with some lime cordial or lemonade... I also have some lovely blue glasses which I am thinking of using as vases...

I just need to suss out how and where I will do the set up as to how much of what and table heights etc......

So exciting!!!!!!!!

Loved the ribbon idea on wall but I think there is no wall for this but good to keep in mind.

The alice party looked so impressive but then very obvious packet opening......still layout nice...

That ikea shelf in the ribbon back drop table is a great idea. I was thinking of doing stacked boxes or books too...

I think my biggest thing is to get the balance right to be lovely but not crazy colours....
