Alternative for Desserts
I am trying a new diet. It is more about my food intolerances than losing weight. Although that is a nice bonus if it works. I am intolerant to fruit but now they suggest I cut down on wheat and dairy too. I have found alternatives to everything but my Bulla frozen yoghurt at night.
Can you suggest an alternative dessert that has no dairy, no fruit and is low calories? I need that little treat at the end of the night.

Oh boy. My sister was on a similar diet. Made her loose a lot of weight but luckily she didn't stay on it for very long. She was put on it by a natropath who misdiagnosed her

Soy is allowed. Does soy yoghurt taste nice?
Sadly I have been unable to eat fruit for 13 years so I know I am definitely intolerant. The other foods they suggest you eliminate for 6 weeks and then add back one at a time. Trust me if it cures this tummy from all its woes it is worth it. I also went to lots of naturopaths and experts before basically working out what was causing the problems myself.

Wow, that is a tricky one.
How about a couple of bits of dark chocolate? I think that is dairy free. It's probably not strictly low cal, but if you only have a couple of bits it might be enough to feel like you have had your sweet treat.
I googled and found Kennerton or Sweet William have dairy free chocolate.
Alternatively could you skip the sweet treat? It may just be a habit you have to break. Sometimes tricking yourself by saying I will definitely have that sweet thing in 1/2 hour, and by then the craving has gone. (Or brush your teeth - that works for me!)

Great idea about the dark chocolate Cherylle. I will go to the health food store and see if they have any dairy free too. But then I will have to find a lace to hide it from the men. Oh I know the vegetable basket in the fridge- they never go in there

You could try cutting chunks of pumpkim (skin on). Place them in a pot skin down add a bit of water to cover the bottom of pot and sprinkly sugar on top. Put the lid on and let it cook on low-med heat until pumpkin cooks. The sugar makes a yum syrup. You can eat it warm with the syrup on top.

What a great idea Bubbles. Pumpkin is a vegetable I am allowed to have. And I am surprisingly allowed sugar just not most sugar substitutes. I love pumpkin too . Thanks.

What about jelly?? Could mix up a few different colours... (you can get low cal jellies)
Or custard made from custard powder & soy milk. In the past I've found soy milk on it's own isn't very nice, but you can get flavoured ones which are alot easier to drink on their own.
Or both jelly & custard to make a mini trifle type dessert with choc sprinkles on top....yumm
